Please!

I have a basic Salter digital model, which seem thoroughly inconsistent and unreliable.

As in a different reading within minutes when nothing has changed.

I don’t want anything fancy, just a reliable accurate indication of weight in Kgs.

We have had these for a few years and they seem reliable/consistent.

It's more often the surface they are on that's the issue

What sort of surface can cause problem? This is a level floor, vinyl on top of floorboards.

As PP says, the surface will affect the reading. Soft or uneven surfaces will affect reading. The 4 corners needs to be at same levels. If you are getting different readings, they are not even. Try a surface at the ground floor. Laundry, kitchen.
