Motivator clothes

Does buying smaller clothes, when trying to lose weight, motivate you?

Or does it make you feel even unhappier that they don't fit?

It motivates me, for sure. However, I only buy one item, usually on Vinted - that I really REALLY want and only 1 size down. I'm now 3 sizes down from where I started (I was obese so long way to go) so it's working. I also sell all clothes I 'shrink' from so that I wouldn't be tempted to let go because 'I can still fit those fat pants'.

Sounds good @Boska23 I've been meaning to buy something smaller, too.

I threw out all my maternity clothes when I got home from hospital.
None of my clothes fitted but I refused to buy clothes in a bigger size so squeezed into my clothes even if my jeans wouldn't do up.
Yes it definitely motivated me to lose weight so they were more comfortable.
I just wouldn't admit defeat and buy bigger/baggier clothes as I knew I'd delay getting back into my pre-pregnancy ones which now fit again.

@havingmetime well done you. I guess it works for some and not for others.

I read about it online.
