Diet for Christmas Challenge 2023

bigdecisionstomake · 23/09/2023 06:35

This is a continuation of the Diet for Christmas Challenge thread started by @OhFatty in 2022 and the Diet for Summer Challenge thread started by @Dashel earlier this year. Thank you to them both.

It is open to everyone, whether you have a lot to lose, just a small amount to go or you're at target but facing the enormous challenge of maintaining your loss ongoing.

It is a thread for positivity, support, cheering each other on and the very occasional kick up the bum if and when requested.

Hopefully previous members of both threads will join us again and new members are always welcome.

I might see if I can squeeze into my goal dress later and take a (headless) photo for you all. It might be quite motivating to do it again in a month and see how it looks then. Anyone else had a goal item of clothing and want to join in?

Good idea. I will pick something today. I have some Toast PJ's that are just a bit too snug. They might be a realistic goal for me by Christmas 👍

SnuggleBuggleBoo · 26/10/2023 19:29

Today:

Breakfast: Smoothie - 150

Lunch: Vegetable soup - 200
Folded flatbread - 100
Slice of cheese - 100

Snack: Ginger immunity shot - 50

Dinner: Mushrooms - neg
Peas - 50
Cheese sauce - 600
Toast - 150

Dessert: Pear - 100
Cake bar - 100

Total: 1600

Oh Bother Bother Bother. I have done a bit of jogging today. Not much though, I am so super unfit!

SnuggleBuggleBoo · 26/10/2023 19:32

@CatMattress It's so hard when you're out with people isn't it?! Especially when it's kids who are built like runner beans and can swallow a cake in one gulp and then reach for another!

SnuggleBuggleBoo · 26/10/2023 19:36

@Extragravy It's a 'What Not To Do' guide! 😁

I know I'm totally spamming this thread, I just need you guys to be witnesses because if nobody knows what I'm eating there won't be any calories in it and I can have a Lion bar every time I nip to the shop... At least by writing it down I'm sort of being held accountable for it. Even if I'm not managing to get as low as the 1300 cals a day I'd originally aimed for at least I'm not going too crazy.

LostNoMore · 26/10/2023 23:12

Hey well done!! (You'll have to change your username now!! 😁 )

I'm not quite ready to give up this name just yet @SnuggleBuggleBoo 😁

Also, it’s wonderful to see so many positive/motivational posts from everyone 😊

Openmouthinsertfood · 27/10/2023 00:35

Good morning. Bad couple of days food wise. Am starting again tomorrow.

Gemzee · 27/10/2023 08:12

I stayed the same! Miracle really (Wine on Weds & last night!).
Happy!
Have a good weekend all!

secondtimemumma · 27/10/2023 08:52

Good morning all! Just checking in as it’s Friday and this is usually when I start to go off track. Often we will get a takeaway on a Friday plus beers and snacks. So I’m writing this to stay accountable. Going to get stuff for a salad and maybe some healthy snacks instead. Hopefully I can stay strong and stick to the plan!

CatMattress · 27/10/2023 08:53

starting weight - 73.7kg, 11 Sep
Current weight - 71.4kg, so a total loss of 2.3kg ! I can't believe it and am so so proud of myself.

Well done to all of you, too. This is tough, especially when we're breaking bad habits, dealing with cold and/or dismal days and leading in to Christmas. Stronger together!

I am contemplating a namechange. I'll let you all know it's me if I do, probably by continuing to be the only person posting her weight in kilos :D

Need to make time to try that dress on today. Perhaps I'll use that for my namechange announcement.

Hah, yes, this definitely describes DS. DD is a little more squidgy so I'm determined to model healthy eating for her, but cake is life, so I don't want to completely cut out all the fun.

Yocal · 27/10/2023 09:22

Well done @CatMattress and others who have lost. And keep going those who haven't!

Discovered a really easy curry that was as good as a takeaway Lamb Rogan Josh yesterday.

All you need is lean diced lamb and Aldi's Rogan Josh Jar. Brown the lamb off in the spices and then cook in a casserole dish in the oven for 1.5 hours at 180. It came in at 450 calories including boiled basmati rice. It honestly was as good as our very good local curry house.

I can cook curry's from scratch and normally do, but if you're busy and needing a quick take-away substitute then it is worth ago. Save money and the calories. It's a good option when you want the taste without the effort after a long working week.

Sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs!

Good luck over the weekend everyone. 👍

So. I squeezed into the Christmas party dress. It does do up. There are no weird wrinkles where it's not sitting properly, but it is very tight and I may not want to eat or sit down in it at current fit. I don't, however, look pregnant in it any more so that's a huge win. Despite the selfie being tricky to take and not that flattering I don't necessarily think they're painting a true picture of how the dress fits in pers9n as you can't tell how much I'm holding my breath! 😆

Later I might try on the mini skirt I was wearing when I met DP. That wouldn't zip up when I tried it 2 months ago and corduroy is a lot less forgiving than stretch velvet!

@Backinthedress looking good. Great idea. I have a fitted midi leather pencil style skirt on love to fit back into with a velvet body suit. I must dig it out and try it on. I don't think it's going to do up so it might be a bit of a stretch for it to fit by Christmas but I'll see. I will report back.

Cookiedough123 · 27/10/2023 22:11

Hi everyone hope you don’t mind me joining in. I have my own little thread I keep posting on but it’s quite quiet so feel like I’m just talking to myself a lot 😂

I started in July at 15st 6.8 and today I was 13st 5.0 so I am down a total of 2st 1.8lbs!

My goal is 12st although I have been 9st 10 at my lightest so could still have a way to go! I have been a yo-yo dieter for the last 10 years! I will post my MyFitnessPal graph which started in 2015!! Before that I was up in the 13s/14s bracket.

The main thing I have done differently this time is fasted so have a 6 hour eating window and the rest of the time drink plenty! I honestly think it’s made the biggest difference as I feel like I can have bigger portions for my lunch and tea when I’m mainly hungry and it’s also stopped me snacking completely! Anyway I will stop going on now but I am looking forward to reading everyone’s posts 👋👋👋

Cookiedough123 · 27/10/2023 22:13

Sorry forgot to include my ridiculous all time weight graph. Have also included my daily weigh ins graph!

I like graphs they keep me motivated and on track 😂

Welcome Cookie!
I've stayed on track with calories today, but not eaten v healthily. Run day again tomorrow, now my legs have recovered. Hopefully it'll inspire me to a little more fruit and veg!

bigdecisionstomake · 28/10/2023 06:47

Morning all

A really quick one from me today as I've got so much to do it's a bit scary. Work is off the scale busy so there have been lots of late finishes and early starts. I've been ok with my food but not great, there have been a couple of glasses of wine that there shouldn't have been plus some snacking, but given everything going on currently I actually don't think it's been too bad. No exercise at all though 😫

I haven't weighed for a couple of days so not sure where I am and I'm a bit worried that if it's bad it might derail me so staying off the scale for a short while. And....it's my birthday today and there will be cake so I'm eating what I want this weekend🙂

Huge congratulations to everyone with losses and who have stayed the same and welcome to new joiners.

If like me you're struggling a bit at the moment then keep posting and keep accountable (as @SnuggleBuggleBoo says) and know you're doing the best you can.

Happy weekend everyone 🙂

SnuggleBuggleBoo · 28/10/2023 17:18

@Backinthedress Hey, looking good! You'll be able to sit down in it and breathe by Christmas, I'm sure! I just discovered a storage bag of my 'skinny' clothes that have been put away for years. No chance of fitting into them any time soon! My first goal is to not have to breathe in when doing up my jeans, and be able to take a jumper on and off without a struggle.

SnuggleBuggleBoo · 28/10/2023 17:19

@Cookiedough123 That's amazing, well done!
