Apple Cider Vinegar - what do we think?

Hey everyone

A couple of weeks ago, I met a friend that I had not seen in months and she has clearly lost a lot of weight. I asked her about changes to her routine and apparently she has a tablespoon of apple cider vinegar every morning.

DH does not believe that it works. So, I had to try for myself.

It's my second day so very early days. But I feel fuller and have been snacking less. Does the stuff actually work or am I just telling myself stories?

I did similar for a bit, hot drink with apple cider vinegar, lemon and honey everyday. But I started to worry the acid was wrecking my tooth enamel so stopped!

I've been taking the gummies for about 3 weeks now.

It really helps with bloating which I really suffer with, and I've lost 6lbs too but I've also been eating better and exercising more.

I tested it with a cgm and it did reduce my glucose spike following carbs/high sugar food by around 20%. However a handful of almonds did the same, are far more palatable and do not erode your tooth enamel.

Be careful with the ACV it can er.. go through you quite quickly!

I do find it interesting though that a vinegar dressing or vinegar based starter is part of food culture in many parts of the world, it is almost as if our ancestors knew what was beneficial for health....

I was reading about this last night. It may not be Apple Cider vinegar specifically but any vinegar would work. But it does make you feel fuller for longer and therefore less snacking. I'm giving it a month and I will update. 😊

Vinegar is definitely a weight loss aid for me. As a keen medical student who was interested in healing with whole foods I did an experiment on myself. I took Apple cider vinegar and used vinegar as a condiment in normal amounts and my blood sugars stabilised compared to when I did not have vinegar in my diet. It's been 10 years since that experiment, I think I need to start having it again.

So the traditional British version of this would be a starter of: pickled onion, beetroot, bonfire peas, whelks or soused herring.

At the end of the day, you cannot out vinegar a bad diet. But, you can have a tasty starter. Just remember to finish your meal with a small lump of cheese to save your teeth.

Is there a difference between Apple Cider Vinegar and Cider Vinegar or are they the same thing?
