Gastric Sleeve

Please no hate, a lot of thought has gone into this. I have a consultation for private gastric sleeve surgery and was wondering if anyone had any experience of this method?

How long after consultation did you get your surgery?
Approx cost - I'm anticipating anything up to £10k
How did it affect you mentally?
What were your reasons for choosing the sleeve?
What is discussed at consultation? I'm a little nervous!

TIA

Hi. I had a gastric sleeve done in May. I have lost 3 1/2 stone since with another 2 stone to lose. I wish I had it done years ago. I did however have mine done in Turkey after doing a lot of research and speaking to many people that had used the same hospital. I was very impressed and am returning in February to have some skin removed on my arms.
It is very hard work and you have to be very disciplined with your protein and water intake. It took me a while to adjust and I had counselling before I went as I had spoken to people that had suffered mentally after having the op as they weren't prepared for how difficult it is.
I have 0 regrets however and wish you luck in your journey.

Yes it’s only because I was away I delayed it they can get you booked in within the month probably less. My surgeon only does them on a Monday I went via healthier weight

Consultation was last week and I specifically asked for a date during the half term on October as I have to travel to london from Suffolk

@maz82 thanks so much for the reply, and well done on doing so well! I'm going to ask about counselling as I know it's going to be a huge thing mentally to deal with, and not the easy fix people think it is. It's something I've thought about for many years, having my daughter has made me realise how much I need to prioritise my health for her and be the Mum she deserves - I deserve it too, I've spent the last 10 or so years miserable in my body.

Thanks again for replying and I hope the rest of your weight loss goes smoothly x

@SuffolkUnicorn I've been researching into Healthier Weight and they look great, I'm going to Spire for my consultation as there is one near me in Norwich. Nervous!!!
