Pre-op liver reduction diet

I have a mini gastric bypass procedure booked in next month (scared but hopeful!). I need to do a 14 day liver reduction diet beforehand. There is a workshop where we'll be given more information on this but it's only taking place the day before I need to start it and as I have a history of very chaotic eating, I really want to spend some time meal planning properly for this stage. Anyone willing to share their experience of this? What sort of food did you eat/meals did you make? How did you plan? Particularly keen to hear from single person households - I live alone, so I can't just dish out a tiny portion of what everyone else is having :-s Thank you!

I had to do this for a week before having my gallbladder removed.
I won't lie, it was grim.

I could only pretty much eat fat free yoghurt and sugar free jelly.
Savoury I was only allowed bovril or marmite. So I used to sip marmite in hot water when I craved a savoury taste.

Couldn't have milk so had no hot drinks, just drank water.

My trolley at the supermarket looked ridiculous, just as many different flavours of yoghurt and ready made jelly I could find.

I didn't stick to any set meal times, I just had a yoghurt whenever I started to get hungry.

I longed to chew some proper food, I can tell you. But it did get easier after the first few days.

Good luck. I hope the surgery goes well.

Actually I think I was allowed a small amount of skimmed milk each day so I could drink tea.

Thank you so much, the yogurt is interesting. I've been wondering if I should just buy baby food jars and live off those for two weeks but it sounds like even that might be a no no

Only just seen this. I'm 8 months post op now and honestly life before seems like a fever dream. My pre-op weight was 95kg and I'm now 68kg, down from my highest ever point which was 122kg. I eat little and often and extremely healthily and I exercise 3-4x per week and actually enjoy it because it's much easier to work out in a lighter body. It's a huge amount to adjust to and not without challenge but overall so worth it. I hope your prep is going well!

I’ve started a liver shrinkage diet on Wednesday, and now my partners told me we’re going out for dinner on Sunday, my diet consists of 3 supermarket own soups, x4 fat free muller light yoghurts, x1 pint of milk, sugar free jelly. Is there anything I can do on Sunday so that I’m not the only one not eat or can I substitute something so that I can eat Sunday going to the harvester. I rang the dietitians they were no help as there were no bariactric dietitians or nurses on that could answer my question.
