Holiday Force Feeding

I do this bizarre thing on holidays and have done for my whole life...

....I basically force feed myself.

So say this evening....we're on a short break....I've forced myself to eat a load of chocolate. I'm not a massive chocolate fan, and I now feel sick.

But I have this whole narration in my head that this is my only chance to indulge and once I get home I can't do this so I must do it now. I do this every single holiday and feel crap.

Anybody else? What the hell am I like

You're on holiday, enjoy yourself. You have 51 other weeks of the year to stay on a diet.

It sounds like you may have some disordered ideas around food. Are you generally very restrictive about what you eat to the extent that you only 'allow' yourself 'bad' foods when you're on holiday?

I totally agree about enjoying myself, but this I don't necessarily enjoy, it's more I almost feel obligated to!

No I don't have strict rules I follow, I just generally eat a balanced, healthy diet..it's a weird one

How was food treated when you were little? Were you fed loads? Made to finish your plate? Shamed for eating? What's your parents' relationship to food like?

“I’m on me holidays!” Was a phrase my aunt became famous for as she’d diet and be miserable to get a beach body from spring until her holiday, then once there, binge because the target has been met. She’d eat normally for a few months after holiday then go back on insane diets to look good for Christmas- and yes, binge because it was Christmas. Rinse and repeat for 30+ years.

OP - have you internalised the idea you can only eat whatever you want on special occasions like holidays or Christmas week so feel you are obligated to make the most of it?
