Help stop me falling off the wagon!

Perimenopausal, short woman here. Weight piled on over Covid and through various bereavements. Want to lose about a stone and a quarter.

I’ve started really well over the past few weeks. Exercising and eating healthily. Lost around five pounds.

THEN, over the past few days, I’ve been feeling poorly with a sore throat, DP is away for work so I’m doing all DC night wakings on my own and I am knackered. So I fell off the wagon and have put a couple of pounds back on

What ALWAYS happens to me, is that at this point, I go, fuck it, I’ll never manage it, I’m too tired, maybe I can wear elasticated trousers for ever.

What can I do to stay strong and get back on track? Any tips?

Accept that you aren't always going to have a perfect eating day and put it in the past. Today you are going to stick to plan, you're going to make better choices, drink lots of water and do a bit of exercise. Tomorrow you'll do the same. If you do have a day where you need to eat out, or it's someone birthday and you have a bit of cake that's ok, because the next day you'll be back on plan.

I am awful with the "all or nothing" mentality.

Try finding some healthier foods that fit your plans, if your throat is sore, would some fresh berries and nice yogurt feel cool and appetising? If you are tired from the night waking, can you prep a breakfast you are actually looking forward too? Double bonus of it being done already and fitting your plan.

Go for a walk. It's better than nothing, fresh air and daylight always lift moods, and simple exercise will lift you too.
