Anyone else just starting?!

I’ve lost 8lbs independently in the last 4 weeks but I have a lot to lose (at least 7 stone) so decided I needed a little helping hand.

Hi I've started saxenda this evening. I was quite anxious starting it. I've approximately 4 stone to lose . Did you have any side effects after your first day?

Asparagus1 · 22/05/2023 20:04

The only side effect is I can’t stop weeing 🙈 I’ve got about 7 stone to lose

Well that's not too bad of a side effect! I've actually read on other forums people having to pass urine more frequently with it.

Did you have a noticeable decreased appetite on day 2?

I've taken it 4 hours ago and I feel really full like I've eaten a huge takeaway and I haven't so I think that is it obviously working or maybe it's in my head 🤣

I also smoke and I've just had one and it made me feel nauseated so if the side effect is also cutting down on cigs that would be really good for me.

I joined tik tok and there us lots of videos on there of people's journeys taking Saxenda also before and after videos and its really inspiring.

I am 7 days in, I’ve lost 10lbs! I am mixing it with intermittent fasting too (16/8) and 1000-1200 calories a day. I’m sure will slow down and fluctuate from now on but I’m convinced on it so far. Have 4 stone to lose.

First few days I was suspicious it was a placebo effect, but really suppressed appetite and all cravings and almost no side effects so far, just bit of nausea very first thing in the morning but fine once up and going, at times I’ve got very tired too but that’s improved last day or so.

I do find it weird feeling full, not a sensation I overly like 24/7 but if it works I can put up with that!

Well done on your loss!

I’ve also felt the effects immediately! Have had 1200 calories today and had to force some of those in! I weigh on a Tuesday so will weigh in the morning but obviously only started Sunday so next week will be the most interesting I think

What time of the day do yous take your Saxenda?

I am taking mine in evening but not sure if that's lasting then all through the following day as I'm feeling my appetite come back around lunch time. I'm only on day 2.

Sotiredmjmmy · 23/05/2023 19:30

I’m taking at 11pm - I’m doing that as I take another daily med then so helps with remembering and in the hope that I sleep though any immediate nausea etc.

Means I can eat sensible amount dinner rather than too little

Lolu12 · 23/05/2023 19:36

I'm taking at 6pm.

Do you feel it lasts all day that your appetite is still suppressed at lunchtime etc the next day ?

I'm on 0.6 and on day two only but I felt by 2pm today, I was hungry as normal and by 5pm I was hungry too. I did eat alot less though.

I thought maybe taking in the morning means the appetite suppressant effects would be during my waking hours as opposed my sleeping hours but maybe it doesn't matter .

Asparagus1 · 23/05/2023 20:57

I’ve been taking mine around 4pm. Day 3 today, appetite has been gone since day 1.

This afternoon is the first time I’ve felt hungry, in a noticed it’s coming up dinner time type way, I’m due to go up to 1.2 tonight so am thinking maybe due to that.

You can try morning instead, similar to having missed a dose, think it’s 12 hour leyway

Hello, I've been on Sax for 6.5 weeks now, and am now on the full dose. I've lost 23lbs but still got about 7stone to lose to get to a healthy bmi (not been there since I was a teen and am 47).
Been lucky and no side effects. I am also doing intermittent fasting, (varying between 16:8 and 20:4) and increased exercise. Also lost the urge to drink alcohol which is a bonus, as I have struggled with drinking too much for years. Feeling good!

Lolu12 · 29/05/2023 11:14

I've lost 1.5kg in my first week.
I also used to drink wine during the week a glasses 2 or 3 days a week and I've lost the urge to do that also. This was one thing that definitely contributes to weight as it's empty calories and then snacking while drinking adds more .

I am due to go up to 1.2 today and I do expect for some nausea as I had that on day 1 to 4 but it's mild enough that an anti nausea tablet works fine.

Im so happy I made the decision to take this medication as reading some stories would turn you off it but it's not as bad as I read for me anyway.

The pros outweigh the cons If you have a high BMI in my opinion.
