Binge eating?

For the last 3 days i have eaten nothing but crap and so much you wouldn't believe
I have eaten to the point of my stomach hurting and feeling queasy.

So once again tomorrow will herald the arrival of yet another 'diet'

And repeat ,repeat,repeat.

I am not massively overweight or anything but always 'on a diet'

Why the feck do i do this?

I could have written the OP. I am a bit of a binger these days. I'm not hugely overweight, but my eating habits aren't good. I'm a terrible comfort eater, and also feel guilty after eating the vast amounts that I can pack away. Diets don't work with me at all. I can only deprive myself for a day or two and then I'm back to scoffing like it's going out of fashion. Have considered seeking counselling (particularly CBT) for it, but haven't really faced up to in RL yet

oh christ PFNM - this is me! I can eat for england at about 10-11am and be soo full to bursting can't manage anything for the rest of the day - well perhaps only a small tea but everyday even after 1/2 hours worth of bloody jogging. and I am overweight.

It is evenings with me i can eat sensibly during the day but come evening i am ravenous and then just think sod it.

Exactly the same with me@PFNM. I can have porridge for breakfast, salad & chicken for lunch, fruit and water all day - then put away enough pizza and chocolate for 4 people in one sitting come the evening.

I think maybe we should glue our mouths shut after 7pm.

I am experimenting with a cure.
It is NUTS.
You can eat loads and loads of nuts which are very nutritious (yawn) but at risk of being disgusting.. whatever else is in your system won't be for long as they are also very good for your bowels. TMI. But I'm trying brazils (not chocolate).

Showmeheaven · 16/02/2008 16:51

But nuts are full of fat and calories I know some of the fat is the good fat (monosaturates) but there is also huge amts of saturated fat in nuts, especially brazils

stuffitllama · 16/02/2008 17:38

You're right but I'm giving up on calorie counting and going with what's healthy. All I know is it's better than eating choc biscuits. And I won't eat carrots all night even to be skinny so it's nuts for now!

Showmeheaven · 16/02/2008 18:04

I know, calorie counting is such a chore!

I can totally identify with binge eating. I have done it on & off for years. I read once that anyone who is 4 stone or more overweight definately has a problem with binge eating. If I know I'm going on a diet (which is quite often) I will eat all the stuff I know I won't be able to eat on my "diet" (which ends up lasting about a week!).

But PFNM, its a horrible feeling being out of control with your eating. And when you take back that control, it feels wonderful.

The few moments of pleasure you get during the binge isn't worth the feelings of guilt and disgust that you feel afterwards.

dh has bought a half kg bag of iced gems for the children
the results have not been pretty
so much for being pious about nuts
