Hello
I've taken the plunge and decided I'm going to try Saxenda. My prescription has arrived and I have some questions...

Where is the best place to inject? I know it says tummy, thighs or arms but I've heard injecting in the tummy can make side effects worse? Also, is there a better time to inject? Does any one else have any other tips/recommendations? I'm feeling really apprehensive about starting!

I have a food shop today coming with lots of healthy foods and I've meal planned for the week. I really want to try and use this to support sticking to healthy and balanced diet.

How are you getting on?
I had my first dose last night. I woke up in the night thirsty which was unusual and woke up early this morning feeling a bit sick.
I made my mid morning coffee as usual but couldn't have more than a couple of sips as I just didn't fancy it. It's now 14:40 and I haven't eaten a thing all day. I'm just not hungry!

I had my first dose last night too. I actually woke up hungry this am( not usual) after really disturbed sleep. I think I may have felt nauseous in the night actually, or was dreaming I was! Had a really small banana about 6.30am but I got to about 10 am before I felt queasy. At coffee I didn't even feel slightly tempted to eat cake that had been bought in, so now my colleagues think I'm sick! I feel really weird. I'm kind of hungry now but also not really and it's not taking much willpower to not raid the cupboards.

How do you get this? Do you need to see a GP?

saxendaqs · 04/05/2023 22:53

@CandidaAlbicans78 hi! I woke up in the night thirsty which is unusual for me. Had a drink and went straight back to sleep but then woke up this morning much earlier than usual and felt really nauseous.

Managed to eat around 800 cals today but I tell you, it's been a struggle!
Went for a walk this morning with friends and ordered a latte. I had 2 sips and couldn't manage any more. They got sandwiches and cakes and I just couldn't. The thought of eating knocked me sick. I think they might think I'm pregnant 😂

Anyway it got to 4pm and I hadn't eaten a thing and thought I'd better eat something even though I still didn't feel like it. The only thing we had in that I fancied was one of the kids pot noodles. Gross! So I ate half of that and a kiwi.

Then at about 8pm wasn't hungry but had half a jacket potato with butter and a little cheese.

Decided to just inject 0.3mg tonight and see if I feel less nauseous tomorrow. I'll aim to increase it a little each day until I'm back up to 0.6mg then potentially stay on that dose.

Hueandcry · 16/05/2023 13:59

How are you getting on with this? I'm interested to know before ordering

saxendaqs · 18/05/2023 01:27

Yes I'm liking it. Losing a steady 2ish lbs per week. But I only have about a stone to lose so imagine you'd see more drastic results if you had more to lose.

Oh interesting! I have 40 kilos to lose, so hoping for a quick start... (appointment is in 6 weeks...)

Hi. I have asked to speak to my GP about this but looking at the guidance they can't prescribe it? Is that right?

Burwash Pharmacy used to sell via completion of online form…sadly, no longer.
