I started on 3rd Feb and have lost 3.5lb and that’s it! I’ve cut out desserts pretty much, I’ve been drinking more water, I’m having smaller portions. There has been a few occasions like a couple of birthdays in that time where I’ve had a meal out and a couple of glasses of wine but if I’ve had dessert I’ve always shared with dp.

Im thinking of trying a low carb diet but what do you have for breakfast? I don’t eat eggs or fish.

I’m not keen to do any type of fasting diet.

I'm 48, 5ft3 and 11st6lb and menopausal. I’d like to loose a stone by summer as last summer I felt so hot and uncomfortable.

Any advice would be very welcome!

What have you eaten and drunk today?

I am in exactly the same boat. Started January - lost 7lbs since then but no loss in the last 4-5 weeks.

I’m early 40s - I don’t know if stress and poor sleep are factors.

Have you logged and tracked your food and drink intake on my fitness pal? It's eye-opening how small portions need to be really. Do you do any exercise daily like walking? What kind of things are you eating? And what size portions?

A typical work day would be
breakfast - bowl of cereal
lunch - ham and tomato sandwich on brown seedy bread plus a yogurt
Dinner - chicken veg and rice or bolognaise

maybe a handful of grapes for snacks or some sultanas.

drinks are either tea or water, maybe a small glass of diet lemonade with dinner.

Most days I do 8,000 steps with a couple of days doing over 10,000. I do like walking so should probably do more if that although I have a bad knee so am limited. I’ve just started yoga.

Definitely weigh and log everything on my fitness pal. Scan the barcode of your food when you do this to ensure accuracy. Your food intake sounds ok but I'm eating more than you and losing weight. I'm 5'3" and
9 st 1 lb and age 46. I log everything on mfp and eat around 1550 calories per day.

I eat 3 meals a day and have some snacks so no fasting except I don't eat after dinner around 5/6pm.

Just thought I’d come back with an update as I started eating low carb and I’ve really noticed a difference!
it’s been 12 days and I’ve lost 5lb!!! I actually can’t believe it!
Ive cut out white potatoes, pasta, rice and all bread. I’m either having a small bowl of special k for breakfast with some fruit or yogurt and fruit. Salad or soup for lunch and dinner just whatever I’m cooking for everyone else without the carb element.
yesterday I had an afternoon tea booked so did have bread/scone and cake and I had a meal last week at a friends and she had cooked the most delicious pie so ate that with a tiny slice of dessert too.
Ive not felt as though I’m missing out massively and my will power at work has been super strong!

That's great OP, glad you've discovered low carb. A common thing I see is people switching to whole grain bread and cereals as they are healthy but not realising they are so high in calories. Multi seed bread is the highest at an average of 130calories per slice. Also the vast majority of people way overestimate a recommended portion size of cereal. Most people have 3-4 times as much so very easy to over eat calories when having wholegrain carbs at every meal.
