Hi there, I'm new to the weight loss topics

I've just discovered I've got PCOS
I've heard that a low GI diet is very beneficial. I've been on it before and it just made me feel so energetic and healthy, I stopped because I got pg with DS and craved anything and everything!

Now TTC again so wanna get back into low GI. If anyone's got any hints/tips/interesting and easy recipes, I'd love to hear!

Also worth searching The Times and The Telegraph for articles.

blimey I'd forgotten I'd started this thread!

I've tried to get back on the Low Gi but I just keep falling off I just feel like I need sweet stuff! I really do!

If I could I'd skip main course and head straight for a gooey pudding. I've got about 3/4 stone to lose and I'm finding it really difficult. I know if I dont have anything sweet for 2 or 3 days then I dont feel like I need it but I cant get past the 2 or 3 days! Plus every weekend we cheat so I have to start all over again on Monday

So no one is doing the Low GI diet then??? I thought it was really popular

I need to go more low GI (I'm pretty low GI already, but I'm sure I could improve). I have PCOS and have quite a bit of weight to lose and to top it off I've just been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes.

Have you tried having dark chocolate to curb your sweet cravings? I really like Green and Black's Maya Gold, I only need quite a small amount to satisfy a chocolate craving and it doesn't leave me craving more 30 mins later.

How is your PCOS being treated? It is very hard to lose weight with PCOS. A few years ago I did WW and stuck to the rules obsessively and only lost half to 1 lb a week.

My main problem (I think) is having a carb base for most meals. Even though my carb is fairly "good" (wholemeal everything and a mix of brown and white basmati rice) I probably just have too much of it. I am planning to cook more pulses, which I love. I just need to get the cookbooks out and do some planning because pulses are quite time consuming to cook so I will need to make fairly big batches and freeze them I think.

Hi Bran

Oh yes, I've discovered the marvels of dark choc! We love the Sainsbury's own Taste the difference" dark choc only 99p. I allow myself two pieces every night

I tried Slimming World but they allow you to have all sorts of crap processed food. I lost half a stone but couldnt lose any more. I didnt feel healthy either.

I'm fortunate not to be overweight but I'm trying to get down to my lowest healthy weight which I think is about 8st10 or something. I'm 9.5 at the moment. I think this will help me to release an egg at long last so we've got a chance to have another baby!

I'm having lots of checks done. Just had an HSG scan and I have a baseline scan booked for July then a follow-up gynae appointment in Aug. I'm hoping she will prescribe me Clomid whic is supposed to be a wonder drug. I'm really hoping that a low GI diet will help with TTC too.

The carb thing is really difficult for me. It's the only thing that I really love (except sweets and choc!) We have wholegrain everything. I cant stick to one slice of bread though, I have to have two. I think I eat too much fruit too, I have LOADS! All that fruit sugar isn't good but hey, at least I'm getting at the very least my 5 a day! I avoid bananas although I do love them

Have you tried the low GL diet? I dont get why it's different to GI but you're allowed a lot more food.
