As the title suggests.. I'm now 43 and a size 16 and very perimenopausal due to a subtotal hysterectomy 10 years ago, which has thrown me into an early menopause.

Over the past 5 years, I've given up smoking and work out loads more than I had for years, I sleep well, feel happy and enjoy my life. No more anti depressants and life is good.

However, I'm now fatter than ever which only bothers me in the sense of dressing this different body and societal perception. Now if I try to diet, immediately my anxiety increases and my insomnia comes back. Can anyone else relate to this??

I spent many years a size 10-12, had poor mental health and life was pretty crap at times. I feel that all the information available tells me it should be the opposite?!?

Absolutely I can relate to this. I am much larger than you and have been a size 26 for most of my adult life. As soon as I try to go on a strict diet my anxiety escalates followed a couple of weeks later by depression. Them for what ever reason I get really constipated. I am working now on just making healthy choices and have been eating a vegan diet for the past month and found it really suits me and I have lost half a stone without really trying. My advice would be just to enjoy being you and concentrate on what makes you feel happy x
