This is not yet available in the UK via Boots, ASDA or Lloyds online pharmacies but there is a company called Juniper offering it. Does anyone know how this may be possible, or has used Juniper and could share your thoughts on the company as I desperately need to lose weight now as my BMI has reached 35. I am not keen on starting Saxenda.

I haven't heard of that company. I've been getting mine from Quick Meds. The first time they phoned me back after the online consultation, checked my details and gave me a lot of useful advice. Since then I just reorder, no problem.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 03/06/2022 09:36

I bought it last year online, through some company.

Not an answer to your question, but I'm on Victoza (with the same active ingredient as Saxenda) and DH was on Ozempic. For diabetes in both cases, not weight loss specifically.

I find Victoza very easy to be on; there are no side effects aside from the first day or so, possibly because it's injected daily so is a smaller dose?

DH had to come off Ozempic because he felt too sick on it. He gave it a few months, to be sure, but it just didn't work.

We know 3 other people who had the same problem with Ozempic - one was vomiting every day, another lost 5 stone really fast because he just couldn't eat (great result, yes, but an utterly miserable way to do it!).

paintingcolors · 03/06/2022 12:36

Thanks for the replies. It's encouraging to know it is available. I was suspicious because i had read it wasn't yet available in the UK. Will look into Victoza, and Quickmeds too.

It’s available on prescription, off-label with MyBMI. It’s the once weekly jab, similar to Saxenda but a different molecule of the same category.

anyone wanting to know more about this drug class would do well to read “Why we eat (too much)” and GLP in the role of obesity.

m also I’ve lost 5 stone on it.

NotMyFinestMoment · 03/06/2022 13:31

I get mine on prescription every 12 weeks. I've been using it at the maximum dose for 18 months with no weight loss at all (weight has been stable for the whole duration). Be warned that not every person will lose weight on it.

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 04/06/2022 09:32

I found Saxeender horrific. It gave me unbearable anxiety.

Ozenpic totally messed with my sleep. Stuck it for 4 weeks and hardly slept at all.

AnnaMagnani · 04/06/2022 09:38

There are quite a few companies offering it. I also get mine from MyBMI - I've lost 3 1/2 stone.

It's not an easy fix - you have to put in the work as well! I've completely changed my diet, my portions, my outlook on food. If you don't do that I'd expect some people wouldn't lose weight at all or would find the side effects awful and give up.

I have taken semaglutide for all of October and November this year through purchasing off lable (i think thats the term for using a medication for an alternative purpose than currently licensed). Initially i took 0.25 mg then increased to 0.5 mg dose as advised. The results were actually not great as the faint nausea (very faint) actually puts you off eating healthy food (imagine the feeling after a few glasses of vino) and whilst it may cut down volumn of food, the quality you select my be compromised. I believe the dose is upped substaintally for weight loss puposes but i would not wish to risk eating smaller portions yet poor nutrient food choices long term. I spent lots and was worth a try but i wouldnt do it again. Another fad! I hope this helps someone. Xx

Hi OP, there’s quite a few of us on the “I started Ozempic last night” thread getting it through My Juniper. I’ve been using them and found them very good - send the pens well packaged and in plenty of time, very responsive to queries

Could you tell me a bit more about myJuniper. I’m really interested. I’m considered overweight but not obese so my GP is not will to prescribe it for me. I’ve heard of MyJuniper and I’ve looked into it. It sounds good. Can you tell me what their approval process was like and if you had to go see a doctor first?

Fuffy84 · 05/05/2023 17:51

Does anyone have a discount code for Juniper weight loss?

Thank you!

@DyanDeutsch My Juniper is one of the companies you can get Ozempic prescribed “off label” for weight loss from. There are other providers, Ute there’s a shortage again and I’ve stuck with Juniper because they’ve been reliable. You fill in information online and they come back to you with whether you’ve been approved. Mine was less than 24 hours.

RausageSoul · 05/05/2023 20:13

There's a big shortage and myjuniper have advised they are halting discount codes and referral codes.

Fuffy84 · 06/05/2023 11:56

Oh no! Thank you for the info 🙂

There's a big shortage and myjuniper have advised they are halting discount codes and referral codes.

They are also now making new people spend £295 upfront on what they call a 40 day supply - telling people to only inject every 10 days not 7 which seems strange advice as not what is recommended by the manufacturers
