Weight loss, is this normal?

I've started a new job where I am very active, all good, saves pennies on gym membership anyway.
I haven't changed my diet at all. I'm just a lot more active. I have lost 2 stone in 8 weeks! I know it's a huge amount, I've gone from a size 18 to a size 14 and getting noticeably slimmer by the day.
The main thing I've noticed is how often I go to the toilet for a no 2.
Previous to starting my job I went once a day.
Now I'm going several, up to 4 times a day!

Should I be worried, see a Dr? Or is this what happens when you shift your ass for the first time in a long while and do a considerable amount of exercise, albeit work?

It doesn't sound normal to me, especially as your eating habits haven't changed. My understanding is that weight loss is (usually) 80% diet so I would be surprised if a more active lifestyle would make that much difference. Combined with your change in bowel habits I would make a doctor's appointment.

I would get your thyroid checked. Rapid weight loss and several poos a day are a sign of an overactive thyroid. I don’t think you can put that down to just being more active.

Not be be alarmist, but sudden weight loss and change in bowel habit would make me think bowel cancer (which I lost a family member to). Please have a chat with your doctor, lots of thing are completely treatable if caught early.

How are you feeling? Are you more out of breath, how is your energy?, heart rate? When I had hyperthyroidism and I lost a lot of weight despite eating loads, increased number of bowel movements and heart rate went up a lot. Definitely get your thyroid checked!

Oh crikey! I wasn't sure.
Thanks, I will get checked out.

I'm actually feeling really good!
Energy levels pretty high, like I said, fast paced high energy job and I work 12 hour shifts, no problem (the first couple of weeks were tough but I'm getting used to it now)
No problem with breathlessness or heart rate either.

In that case it probably isn't hyperthyroidism, maybe you are really just losing weight because you are working long hours (less time to snack), you are on your feet - and you're happy in your job so no comfort eating! It all sounds good to me!

I think the medical advice us, if you're losing weight with trying to, you should her checked out. I always found when I was working my weight was kept in check because I was busy during the day so not snacking. And I had limited time between getting home and going to bed to eat too much. So hopefully it will be as simple as that but it's better to be safe than sorry.
