Have only just put it on today

Sorry I haven't posted until now, but have been offline. My total for last week was a rather modest 43,324. Well done to MadameButterfly!

I have a new freebie pedometer but it keeps resetting itself to zero - is that normal? is it cos it's a crap free one?

Can I ask, what do you do if cycling - does it work for that too? and if you do other exercise like swimming can you add on virtual pedometer steps instead? (as you can't wear it in the pool). or doesn't it work like that? A lot of my exercise comes from cycling and swimming and without that my pedometer count is pitiful.

any ideas anyone?

Fennel you probably keep bashing the reset buton when you lean on things. The cheap ones don't have a protective cover to stop this happening. Is it the Walkers one? I found it to be surprisingly accurate. I clipped it to the front of my bra and my bosom prevented the button from getting whacked and resetting it.It actually measures steps more accurately in this position (until I broke the clip!)
You can't accumulate "pedometer points" by cycling and swimming but if you do a lot of those there is probably no need for you to worry about the number of steps you take each day.

thanks Jasper

it's a special K one.

Furball · 24/11/2004 20:02

Right folks, I'll give this a bash if I may? Got my Walkers one this morning at around 10am after dropping off at school and a trip to Safeways but have managed a surprising 5860 after that and thats just basically round the house! Will try better tomorrow.

yoyo · 24/11/2004 20:06

Where would I pick up a really cheap one? I have an expensive one at the moment which seems to suggest I walk to London each day (I do walk a lot but not quite that much). Thought I'd wear two and see how they compare. That makes me sound sad I know.

jasper · 24/11/2004 22:11

www.walkers.com will get you a free one in a few weeks

jasper · 24/11/2004 22:12

or if buying can I suggest you get one where the sensitivity can be adjusted. You can stride round the kitchen table counting 100 steps and adjust it till it gets it right.
I have found the weightwatchers one to be very good. has a cover so you can't bash it accidentally.

yoyo · 24/11/2004 22:19

Had one with the sensitivity control but had no luck with that either. Spent almost an hour with lovely man in John Lewis fiddling around with it then we both agreed it was not working!

My total for today was 24807 so obviously wrong!!

Will try either Walkers or WW but may have to accept defeat.
