Anyone else using noom? I started using it mid October and have so far lost 25lbs. Had a bit of a break for the last week (flu then Christmas!). Anyone else starting/ back on it and wants a support thread? I know there are groups on noom but mine is pretty quiet…!

I've been having a look at it.

How difficult has it been ? 25lbs sounds lot! Well done you.

Is there a lot of planning meals / weighing things / specific things to eat or is it compatible with family meals ?

It’s mostly tracking (ie calorie counting) plus the little lesson things which I have found fairly useful despite my initial scepticism. It’s more about changing your mindset around food than really restricting or cutting anything out, which I find quite helpful. It also gives options of the speed you can go at, so for example if you’re happy losing at a slower pace you get a higher calorie allowance, if you want to fast it’s lower, but still manageable. I think it’s making me think about my relationship with food more, and helping me to really think about eating more consciously (as opposed to stuffing my face which is what got me here in the first place 🤣)

I paid for it, but lots of people say if you sign up for the 2 week trial then cancel you’ll get loads of offers coming through to you with massive discounts (I can’t confirm this though 😆).

Thanks, yes the first person I met who mentioned it said she didn't feel it was about dieting, but about much more sustainable, long term changing of habits and relationship with food. Thanks - and well done again on your loss. You must be very disciplined. Smile

Hi there WeldMeDaphne I have just signed up for the two week trial. I like the sound of it focussing on the psychology as well as food.

I lost 4 stone with Noom last year and it worked very well for me. I found the little lessons and the contact with the coaches really helpful. I put half a stone back on over Christmas and New year so I have extended my membership to ensure I am supported while I get back to target.

I've just started on it a couple of days ago, having gone from jenny craig and second nature over the past couple of years - which each had their good and bad points.

Noom seems to have its pros and cons as well but I quite like it so far.

I'm on day 2 with Noom. I did a trial with weight watchers not that long ago but really didn't like the new programme. It seems geared at restricting food groups and not calories. So far I'm enjoying Noom but having lost a lot of weight on 1400 cals per day before, I've increased my calorie allowance from 1,200 to 1,400.

Kezia72 · 28/01/2022 22:47

Hi. I'm about 10 days in. Actually this is the first time I've done a real diet or anything. Enjoying it so far and feeling pretty motivated. TBH I find it quite amazing when I weigh myself each morning and see that I am actually losing weight! And I like the step count and all that... I hope I keep it up and loose the 10 kg I'm hoping to loose!

Kezia72 · 28/01/2022 22:49

I've set my weight loss to just below avarage, so that I can meet the goals. I only just scape in on the calorise and the steps each day. Might get easier...

FurbleSocks · 29/01/2022 22:39

I've started doing it but I'm not sure where the 'groups' are people talk about. But MN people are my people so I'll join this support thread!

I'm trying to lose a stone. I've lost 4lbs in 3 weeks which I'm happy with. 1200 calories a day only gives me enough energy to go for a 45/60 minute walk not to go for a run. So it doesn't strike me as being a lifestyle yet. I used to run 5k 3 x a week till it got cold! I can't do a full day of work AND go for a run AND have the energy for bath time! So I walk as that's the only thing that can give.

Kezia72 · 30/01/2022 00:10

Hi furblesocks. Sounds like you are doing great. 1200 calories isn't much. Can't you up that and do more exercise? I'm on about 1500, but maybe that's where I've set my weight loss speed?

GreenPalmTree · 30/01/2022 08:28

Also using Noom at the moment, started again the other week as I couldn’t quite get into it before.

I was added to a group before but I think the timings were out of synch in that we were at different stages in the course which I found confusing. I’m now not in one, I think you get assigned one part way- cant remember when exactly!

namechanged221 · 30/01/2022 18:08

I really rate Noom.

I have lost 3 stone and now in the healthy weight BMI category.

It's not too restrictive. If I e really wanted more to eat I've gone for a big stomping walk to earn back the calories.

My biggest thing was quitting wine and alcohol. Seemed to make it easier to stick to this.

Good luck and well done all!

Kezia72 · 30/01/2022 21:13

Just got invited to a roast dinner and probably went over the budget. But like you say - burn it off tomorrow with a good fast walk or run. I like the idea on Noom that the slips don't mean you should dispair!

FurbleSocks · 30/01/2022 23:27

It's helping me make healthier decisions. We went to the park today and warmed up in a cafe with cake. I had about 5 forks of it then stopped. That was all my stomach told me I needed. Brought in home in a box and DC can share it for a snack tomorrow. Still chose a pint of cider at the pub this evening but realised I would have been happy with a half. So next time I'll just get a glass of water and a half. I'm 293 calories over today but did 10,000 steps and had a roast dinner with lots of spring greens but only 1 potato. It's those kinds of changes I need to make. Sustainable ones. Today felt fine and it's still 1500 calories so keeping my fingers crossed for the weigh in tomorrow!
