Has anyone tried Body Slims

Has anyone ever tried Body Slims?

I heard about it for the first time a few weeks ago. It is a slimming club that used to just hold physical meeting in Ireland but they are now offering a fully online version.
I have seen some great success stories but I am always a bit sceptical especially when most of them are provided by the company.
As far as I can tell it is based on calorie counting and walking for 1hour per day.
It is quite expensive and I am not sure if it is worth the money compared to just using My Fitness Pal myself.
It would be great to hear from any mumsnetters who have tried it.
Thanks

Hi! I wanted to check if there had been any reviews as I was thinking of doing it. Did you try it? Thanks :)

mrspannie · 04/11/2022 17:23

I'm currently doing Bodyslims. I'm in the 6th week of my first 10 week programme and I can honestly say the price is worth every penny. So far, I've lost over a stone, the online seminars have made a huge difference to the way I think - not just about food but about everything, and I'm fitter than I've been in years. It's a million times more effective than just logging calories on MFP - which I tried to do for the first half of this year. I honestly believe that I will be able to get back to the weight I was when I was in my early 20s using BodySlims - so another 2 stone or so to go! I'm in awe of what the programme has done so far and am actually enjoying taking part.

did you join @BigGreyEagle @Britmumsy

In what way do the seminars help? How have you changed how you are thinking?

@YorkiesForAll - hey there. In July 2023, I finished my third programme with Bodyslims. Each programme is 10 weeks long and runs roughly in line with school terms. I did the Sept '22, Jan '23 and April '23 programmes. I've lost 25 kg (almost 4 stone) since Sept 22, and hit my "dare to dream" target weight in the first week of July. Honestly, it's one of the best things I've ever done - and well worth the money. I've tried so many diets before... Weight Watchers, Slimming World, Atkins, Keto, Cabbage Soup... you name it, but fell short of getting into the healthy BMI... with BodySlims, I've finally got there and feel a million dollars and suitably equiped to stay at a healthy weight for the rest of my life. You can't put a price on health - and through the programme I've learnt so much about food, my fitness and my mental health. Highly recommended. Do have a look at the testimonials on the BodySlims website as most of those people featured were on the same programmes as me but are way more eloquent at talking about their BodySlims journey than I am. Also take a look at HalfOfCarla on YouTube / insta if you want more info about the programme.

@Nevermay - Hi. The seminars were incredibly insightful and actually very helpful (covering a wide range of topics -much broader than just food / diets). I got an real insight into psychology, habbits and how to get into healthier ones, different diet plans, how to maintain, prioritisation, etc. (I've applied quite a bit of what I learnt at work!) Each seminar is extraordinarily helpful, yet also very entertaining and provided much food for thought. The speaker (Ger Moran) really gets into your head. The seminars were such a lifeline and kept me going so I could stick to the programme to the best of my ability.

In addition to the weekly seminars, you also get short (1 minute) daily morning and evening videos - which really spur you on and get you focussed. There's also bonus videos (around 5 mins) that are posted each weekend. And there's a short (optional) exercise video that's great fun.

Let me know if you've any other questions.

Wow! @mrspannie well done!! Thanks so much for taking the time to reply 🥰. I stumbled across Half of Carla on Insta and then found my way to BodySlims but was really looking for a review that was not published by them (if you know what I mean), impartial I guess. I too have tried so many things. I’m so very tempted to sign up to the September one. I struggle with mindless eating and bad food habits.

Dasisr · 15/08/2023 14:24

Hi all, also did bodyslims recently and I lost 18lbs in 8 and half weeks (as i then went on holiday). There is something so motivating about it. I have another 18lbs to lose to get to my dream weight so will be signing up for the September program once I get paid.

IrritableVowel · 15/08/2023 14:30

I love Bodyslims

Honestly I echo everything @mrspannie says above. The seminars make all the difference. I really want to engage with Ger and his words make a big impact on me.

I am hopefully going to reach my goal in the Sept programme. I did 3 before taking a break. I tend to put on a bit between cycles, but nothing like i used to do. I used to quit Slimming World and eat round me.

I am 4 stone down from my highest weight and I have 1 to go. I would happily pay the money once or twice a year to keep myself right, both in terms of weight and how he makes me think about stuff.

I know I sound like it is a cult... it is hard to explain what a difference he makes. I would say give it a go if you can. The fee is high but I found I saved money I would normally spend on junk!

YorkiesForAll · 15/08/2023 14:40

Thank you for taking the time to reply @Dasisr and @IrritableVowel Well done both of you! It sounds like a really positive step x

Hey again. In terms of the testimonials on the BodySlims website, they are completely real. The individuals personally posted their testimonials on Facebook / Instagram (or sent them in to BodySlims by email). All BodySlims does is cut and paste them (unedited) directly onto their website, with the individual's permission. I know a handful of the girls featured (some for over 30 years) and I've also been following BodySlims for a while on FB and Insta, so I recognise the names / photos of the regulars. What you see is what you get - and it's genuinely awesome and so inspiring.

YorkiesForAll · 15/08/2023 16:49

Thank you. That is really good to know. Think I am going to go for it 👍

IrritableVowel · 15/08/2023 17:06

As well as Carla, who is sound, there is a huge Instagram community, which I love. Once the programme starts the bodyslims account shares loads of stories and posts from people who tag them, and you can end up following a lot of people with real stories.

foodiefoodie · 27/09/2023 12:05

I just wanted to add to this....I lost over 6 stone in 2020-2021 over 4 programmes....i have just started the September course as i have put on just over 1st stone since i started to maintain.....the first weigh in this morning resulted in 5 1/2lb off (though that might have been due to my recent holiday).
I would agree that the seminars change your way of thinking...and actually, even during periods where i might not have been eating as well as i should, i have mostly kept up the walks...its about the only time you get to be present and just in the moment!
Yes €250 is an amount of money, but in my case, I'll invest that in myself once a year i think just to have a reset. I mean, how much does it cost to get your nails/eyelashes/coffee/whatever is applicable! :-)

YorkiesForAll · 14/10/2023 17:35

I’m 4 weeks in and absolutely not regretting my decision. Really enjoying it and happy that I have lost half a stone :) Thanks for taking the time to reply, the tips and encouragement xxx

Delighted it's working for you, Yorkies. Fantastic loss. Just keep doing what Ger tells you and you will get to your Dare to Dream goal.

EuniceLopril · 17/10/2023 14:28

I heard of Body Slims when Carla was featured in the press. It seems to have been ages ago but perhaps not. Can't remember if it was before Covid? Anyway I started to look into it but at the time I simply didn't have the money to sign up for the next round and then I forgot sbout it.

Is this done by calorie counting? If so do they specify the app you have to use or is it your own choice? I dislike MFP, finding it clunky and very time consuming. Would prefer to use a different one!

foodiefoodie · 17/10/2023 17:44

It's not quite as simple as just calorie counting because at various points you have to exclude some stuff...you do it via their app and log your walks and make a note of what you eat...they give you a calorie allowance

EuniceLopril · 18/10/2023 10:57

@foodiefoodie , thanks for the info. I will continue to follow this thread with a view to signing up to the second run in 2024.
