a few quick tips I found helped me recently

So this isn't a quick fix nor have I found the answers. I've got an underactive thyroid, am less active than I used to be, gained corona-stone, and also peri/menopausal at just turned 50.

things which have helped me in past 2 months:-

  • cut out dips/breadsticks/Doritos that go in dips.

  • cut out crisps even low fat ones

  • cut out chocolate

  • cut down on - don't completely cut out - carbs - so have e.g. half potato, palm sized portion of pasta/rice etc

  • replace sweet with fruit but not excessive, date cut in half with Peanut Butter is good snack.

  • allow yourself cheat days - weekends are mine - I don't go mad but have e.g. bagel for breakfast, maybe cake if out, alcohol in evenings. Don't go mad next day and diet like a demon to overcompensate but do eat lighter, more salads etc

  • try to exercise more - every other day I do two 15-20 minute workouts - prefer cardio - back to back.

  • restarted jogging every other day round 1 mile park - not too fast but try to keep at a steady pace.

  • factor in yoga or e.g. dance - something fun/relaxing

  • keep something you'd like to fit into/slim into for a goal.

Have tried all of the above for past month after twisting ankle and having to rest for a month or so before and have so far lost almost 1 stone. Prefer it to be steady rather than quick.

And yes sometimes I do pig out on crisps/chocolate etc but eat cleanly to counteract this.

I've always been the person who'd lose e.g. half or 1 stone be good for a while then put back on so hopefully fingers crossed I have finally found my fixes!
