Hi all,

I'm 11.5 weeks pp and EBF my LO. During pregnancy I went from a size 6-8 to a 12-14 and I desperately want to lose the weight. Is it safe to do any kind of slim fast/protein shake diets etc whilst breastfeeding?? I wouldn't be replacing all meals, just 1 per day.

Many thanks :)

Hi 👋!

Last January at 8 weeks postpartum I started my weight loss journey to lose all my baby weight ( two kids worth) ! I’m now at a healthy bmi, it took 7 months & I dropped 20 kilo ! I exclusively breastfed during that and still am breastfeeding. I had absolutely no issues with my milk supply . I averaged roughly 2000 healthy calories eaten a day and did lots of workout videos , went for long walks and started running . I hope that helps 😊

Honestly, please don’t do this, you will make yourself ill. You are doing incredibly well with the ebf. What I recommend is you focus on eating really good quality natural food, avoid all processed-junk food. If too busy to prep food, go for simple things like cheese, salmon, good bread, loads of veggies. But don’t beat yourself up. Atm you are growing a baby.
