Is it really bad for you? Do you only lose water and muscle? Am tempted cos have 10 lb I'd like to ditch before Xmas!

You know it aint a good idea Dinny.
It will mess with your metabolism!

dinny · 08/12/2007 20:52

isn't it essentially same as a detox? is that bad for metabolism too? would it mess it up for ever?

OP posts:
moondog · 08/12/2007 20:56

Hmm,I think the whole detox thing is a myth made up by women's mags.I know you are fit (obviously). Do you eat well normally?
If so can you carry on eating well but less of?
Laying of booze and refined carbs will do wonders.

Dropdeadfred · 08/12/2007 20:58

it will make you stink and noone will want to be near you

dinny · 08/12/2007 21:00

how do you know I am fit, Moondog? running?

yes, I do eat well really - been doing WW but just want some quick fix as seems such a long way to go!

I'm not overweight in BMI terms, but am for me, if you get my drift!

dinny · 08/12/2007 21:01

dropdeadfred - stink as in BO or, erm, wind? or breath?

dinny · 08/12/2007 21:14

No, thanks for the offer, DablesinChristmasSpirits. What is a Cambridge diet anyway, out of interest?

OP posts:
DablesinChristmasSpirits · 08/12/2007 21:15

its a liquid diet. 3 food sachets a day. very quick fix, extremely hard to stick to (hence why i have them left over!! lol)

dinny · 08/12/2007 21:15

oooh, sounds awful - definitely couldn't do liquids only!

OP posts:
DablesinChristmasSpirits · 08/12/2007 21:16

what about atkins then?

great if u want a lose a stone in 2 weeks! but u must do it properly!! no processed food!! good (if possible organic meat and eggs) and salads!

moondog · 08/12/2007 21:17

Yes, meant the running.
I don;t hold with prescriptive dieats as such but if I wanted to lose a few pounds quickly,I would breakfast on fruit and plain yoghurt, lunch on soup and dine on lots of veggies and some protein.

For snacks, miso soup, more fruit and popcorn.

dinny · 08/12/2007 21:20

Atkins hard for me as I don't eat meat, Dables....

Moondog - yes, sounds more sensible but feel a crash-type diet may sort of focus me a bit.

Do you use the sachets of miso?

OP posts:
moondog · 08/12/2007 21:51

Yes,I drink them.
Lovely.

dinny · 08/12/2007 22:21

are they high-ish salt, Moondog?

OP posts:
moondog · 09/12/2007 22:04

Dunno.
Probably

fedda · 09/12/2007 23:07

Cabbage soup is not the only option and vegetable soups are probably better then any stuff they sell you for slimming. You could try tomato soup which smells much nicer or tomato, red pepper and carrot soup, also beetroot, tomato, carrot, garlis and onion soup or mushroom and carrot soup - add any vegies you like to it and hey presto- slimming, guilt free and nice nutricious warming meal in this cold winter.

fedda · 09/12/2007 23:08

Sorry, I ment garlic, not garlis (may be such thing exists, who knows)

laloup · 10/12/2007 12:17

Dinny, did you start a diet plan? I'm in same situation as you - I'm in BMI healthy range (just about!) and have got back into my running again (do 5k on weekend mornings). Would love to get rid of a few lbs quickly before Christmas, if you want a diet buddy.

Not sure about Cabbage soup diet but would maybe give something like moondog's suggestions a try. Was thinking along the lines of Breakfast - Porridge or yoghurt with fruit; Lunch - homemade veggie soup; Dinner - stirfry or salad. Loads of water and herbal tea, no alcohol.

fedda · 10/12/2007 14:21

luck, laloup.

fedda · 10/12/2007 14:22

Oh, dear. What's happening? I ment Good luck.

laloup · 10/12/2007 17:44

Thanks, fedda

fedda · 10/12/2007 20:44

you're very welcome, laloup.
