Vegan shakes?

I'm type 2 diabetic and my own worst enemy - I lost weight and got rid of it once but then put.it all back on and I'm out of control.

It's all psychological Sad

Anyway blood test results are scary reading and the GP basically said sort yourself out or you'll be dead soon.

I'm vegan of 21 years and still manage to eat badly.

I'd like to kickstart with a shake diet I think? But as a vegan which are the best ones ?

The fast 800 is to reverse diabetes

There are vegan fast 800 shakes. I couldn’t survive on a shake and they are pretty expensive. If it’s all psychological could the money be spent on psychological help with that instead, that way better eating could follow once you had better head space?

Slimfast do high protein vegan shake powder; mint chocolate and blueberry/raspberry.

Huel is vegan.

If you're anything like me though you'll seriously miss chewing!

fatvegan · 11/08/2021 19:40

Thanks all.

I'll have a look at Huel and the fast 800.

I'd say I'd miss chewing but I hoof everything down so fast I'm not sure I even chew!

Huel. It's really good nutrition. I use black edition, fewer carbs more protein. Can't recommend it enough. And if you do miss chewing you can eat an apple or some celery sticks.

I use SF Nutrition, I get them on Amazon

Would also recommend Huel or Purition. If you’re doing a VLCD, I’d avoid slim fast because they are really high in carbs and you won’t be in ketosis and therefore more likely to feel hungry.

I'd go very low cal and low carb but have proper meals rather than shakes. It's more sustainable long term because it gets you into a healthy way of eating. DP lost weight and reversed his type 2 diabetes this way.

We bought Michael Mosley's "8 week blood sugar diet" book. Didn't follow it rigidly but used a lot of the ideas plus recipes from diabetes UK. I also found Go Lean Vegan a great recipe book.

DP is veggie but I'm vegan and we eat vegan at home.
