The Body Coach: any experience?

Hi all

I’ve just signed to the Body Coach app. I’ve a SHEDLOAD of weight to lose but also really want to get fitter.

I’d be really interested to hear anyone’s experiences with the app/ the plan. I’ve heard it’s very effective but expensive in terms of food costs, which I’m ok with (i think!).

My other qualm is that it suggests drinking 3.5 litres of water (excluding tea) per day. I feel as though I’m going to need a portable loo with me at all times! Hopefully one’s body will adjust!

Hi, I signed up to the 90 day plan last year, I moved on to the app in the new year and have reached a weight that I am happy with, I am now using the meal plan alongside exercise to maintain my weight. It has been life changing for me. Happy to answer any questions.

Food costs, I did notice they went up a bit as we were buying more meat and fresh veg, but we already cooked from scratch so had a full cupboard of spices, sauces etc.

Water intake - I was quite religious at the start, you definitely need to be near a toilet! I don't count my intake now but find that naturally I am wanting to drink more water, I probably have 2-2.5L a day alongside a few hot drinks.

Following with interest.

I’ve been doing the app for about 6 weeks now and am so impressed. Yes the food budget has gone up but I’m eating so much better now and feeling better. The workouts are just hard enough to make me feel challenged without wanting to give up. I’ve lost 2kg and 12cm off my waist already (and more inches over my body). The app Facebook support group is brilliant too. The best thing about it is the slow mindset change - no more feeling guilty about off plan meals occasionally, so far it’s a sustainable lifestyle change. Oh and I’m starting to see muscle definition for the first time in years!!!!

I did Body Coach last year and thought it was excellent. I really enjoyed the exercises which you can do entirely at home. It made a huge difference to my strength and stamina. On the food front, I’m a pescatarian and I did feel the menu was a bit repetitive and it’s really geared up to either meat or veggie. The refuel options weren’t great if you did your main exercise first thing in the morning or after work.

I signed up to the app this year intending to do it again but I was really pissed off to find that all my recipes and workouts from the previous courses I’d paid for are no longer available on the app and it’s put me off.

I've just signed up and planning to start on Monday. I'm away the following week so doubt I'll follow it strictly then but will repeat a week when back

You say you have loads to lose. If you are currently obese, I wouldn’t recommend doing HIIT workouts as you could do yourself a serious injury. As far as I know, this plan does incorporate HIIT. I’d skip that and do walking and swimming instead.

TigerDroveAgain · 16/08/2021 20:28

Hey - thanks all for your replies!

I’m a week in and loving it. Like several, yes the food bill has gone up a bit but probably not as much as I thought.

I am obese but swim daily and have found the exercise ok. I have a slightly dodgy knee so am swapping out some of the exercises for marching or star jumps.

I have to say I feel great thus far and full of energy. Haven’t worked out how to join the Facebook group so if anyone has details that would be great

Ah - the Facebook group details are in the app if you look hard enough…

The Facebook group is really helpful but just remember to take every post with a pinch of salt. You usually only see the real transformations or the negative stories, I've been pretty middle of the road with it and I've never posted in the group and I suspect there's a lot like me. For me, I've gone from a large 14 to a small size 10 but more importantly I've changed my mindset on 'dieting', I eat more than I've ever eaten on a diet before and I've never managed to stick at anything for this long before, sounds a cliche but it really is a lifestyle change. Im coming up to a year since I joined and never thought I'd be where I am.

Thanks usernotfound

I’m not a great Facebook poster but I guess it might be useful when you’ve got a question. I have three weeks to go to my first check in and am very keen to see if there’s tangible progress. I have a big birthday in 7 months’ time and I’d like to look and feel better by then.

Yes it is at the moment. Apparently it will be launched on Android in December.
HereticFanjo · 18/08/2021 08:20

Ah ok thanks.

TigerDroveAgain · 05/09/2021 12:51

Quick update: did my first check in today. Have been pretty good with food - two or three meals out but not going mad but struggling to drink so much water (and not drink so much beer)

Lost 3lb but better than that 3” off my waist and 1.5” off my chest.

Pretty pleased all in all although I do feel as though I’m cooking all the time!

Oo I'm debating joining, what is the meal plan like? I had a baby in June, and while I have lost the baby weight I still need tone up and lose the fat off my stomach!

TigerDroveAgain · 05/09/2021 13:24

I like the meals : I’ve only tried one that I didn’t like, and I double up the portions for the evening meal so DH has some too. Having said that I’ve stuck to the same few recipes as some don’t appeal at all
