So I have started doing 10,000 steps a day. It's just been over a week. It's been very difficult but I literally force myself every single day to go for a walk. I really need to lose weight. I used to be a size 10 an now I'm a size 16/18 since having my daughter who is now going to be 2.

My weight always brings me down and I feel so uncomfortable with my body.

Main issue is yes I'm getting my walk in but I just can't stop eating an I'm constantly thinking about food! In my head I'm thinking well what's the point even walking as I'm still eating the exact same :( someone please motivate me lol

Has anyone lost weight adding in the 10,000 steps but still eating the same? I just need help

Diet is everything!

Have you considered low carbing?

LongPauseNoAnswer · 01/06/2021 20:15

You can’t exercise away excess weight. It’s all diet. I second low carving, it’s fast weight loss and you don’t really get hungry.

Moomoo42 · 01/06/2021 20:17

Stop beating yourself up about it all.

If you can't do 10k steps a day, aim for 5k and work up from there.

Weight loss is about what you're eating. Not the exercise.

Don't torture yourself with the steps.

Get the Fast800 book.

10000 steps is probably about 300 calories, so helps but the energy equivalent of less than a tenth of a pound.
Unfortunately you will need to fix your diet

I think about food all the time too. What really helped me was focusing on what healthy meals I would be cooking and trying out loads of new things. Also planning in snacks so I knew when I’d be eating next.

You might be better swapping your walk for a shorter Hiit session instead.

You have to change what you eat to reduce calories. More protein and more fibery veg will help fill you up. Ranjan chatterjee wrote a good general intro to weight loss called loose weight feel great, I’d really recommend you get that.

Deffo more protein, if you want to go lower carb then second nature is quite good. Nutri check is a good calorie counting app

Don’t focus on steps. Focus on changing your eating habits.

I really recommend Intermittent fasting - eating only between a fixed window e.g between 12-8pm. It's easy to achieve and can make a big difference. I started this last year with also 10,000 steps and a focus on fresh food and lost 3 and a half stone relatively easily.

dementedma · 03/06/2021 08:57

I've been intermittent fasting for two weeks. Lost 1.5kg in week one. Weigh in today....back where I started! Fucking pissed off. And hungry

Honestly, this is hard. I hope you can keep at it. I've tried exercising more and eating less, and I was able to lose half a stone and keep it off, but then my efforts led to a lengthy stall in weight loss. Then I tried formal diets but I gained weight with them so stopped and went back down to what seems to be a happy resting weight, but I want to lose another 10 pounds. I'm now using the old trick of refusing to buy bigger clothes and I weigh myself daily to keep on top of things. I have very little I can cut from my diet, I eat and drink healthily and am not willing to cut out food groups like carbs. Again, I gained weight on that diet. So the only thing I can do is eat less. I'm playing the long game now. Instead of two prices of toast at breakfast I have one, etc.
