Constantly cold whilst dieting

Hey,

I've lost almost two stone since January, which I'm happy about, thought I still am about 3 stone off my goal weight. Even when very overweight, I've always felt cold. On night's out in the past friends have commented on how freezing I am and if I'm cuddling my partner he often has to stop touching me as it's freezing him to the bone. I have the shower on super hot, it would burn most people, but for me it's blissful. Smile

The weather is not too nice at the moment, but still not freezing. Yet I'm sitting here, winter jumper and socks on, heating on full blast, hot water bottle and blanket!

I've thyroid checked loads of times over the years. I used to be anemic but have been fine for ages, though haven't been checked in over a year.

Does anyone else get this when dieting? Any other causes likely?

Yes I do! If I’ve ever tried to fast or really reduce calorie intake then I get freezing cold. I will only do it now in the summer as I hated the cold feeling. I’m also a person who feels
the cold generally. I don’t think it’s abnormal - just an unpleasant side affect when on a diet.

It happened to me for a first week. Then it went away. I think it was the first shock.

I don't think it should last. Are you eating under your BMR? Turning off heating is a coping mechanism for too little calories for the body. Or a temporary shock of going from large to lower. As far as I know

I was actually fasting for a couple of days, so that might be it as it's a pretty extreme change. I was eating 1400 ish before.

Ate a chicken salad yesterday tea time and felt about a hundred times better.
