Help! Need tips on ways to control night time snacking

Hey everyone,
I've been trying to lose weight since October last year I've lost just over 1 1/2 stone in that time but I still have a long way to go!
I'm finding myself snacking a lot in the evenings after dinner then feeling terrible about it but do the same thing again the next day 🤦🏻‍♀️
I'm basically looking for tips on what I can do to stop myself from doing this, any advice welcome!
I'm sick of losing a few pound then gaining it all back and so on 😫

Brush your teeth after dinner. Have a big glass of water on hand, and drink some caffeine free herbal tea when the urge to snack hits.

I actually let myself have a snack after dinner - sometimes a bowl of cereal, toast with something or yoghurt and fruit - I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that as long as you factor it in to your daily intake and don’t go overboard

Echo the other poster. Brush and floss your teeth. Spend ages doing it, especially the flossing. It won't be worth the bother of doing it all again.snd your teeth will benefit!

I always like to save some calories for a 9pm snack, otherwise by the time I go to bed I'm starving and I then can't sleep!

meal-plan and don't buy any snacks. Put the money saved away for a treat for yourself, you'd be surprised how quickly it mounts up.

I make a plate of cucumber, carrot sticks, bite size bits of celery, a very few nuts and small cubes of cheese, cherry tomatoes. It can take a while to munch through it and v little damage done. Also, get busy with a puzzle or knitting that gives your hands something to do.

The thing is, the more you try and stop yourself from snacking the more you're going to do it. It's basic human nature.

Factor in a couple of different snacks after dinner to your calorie goal, then you'll not go overboard, and you'll not be doing stupid things like brushing your teeth at 6pm and drinking minging herbal teas that taste like compost.

Thank you all for responding, some really good tips I'll definitely take on board. 💪🏼

Go to bed! Depends on the time obviously, but sometimes when I feel tempted to snack late on, going to bed is the easiest solution!
