Hey everyone. I'm looking to try this as I'm not getting anywhere else with anything else. My daily routine consist of , get up skip breakfast, skip dinner OR eat crap to fill me. Then it gets to 7/8pm and I eat a takeaway or crap again and don't eat tea. I can never be bothered once the kids are in bed I'm tired and don't want to start cooking again. I only eat crap through the day no meals or anything. Horrible habit I know! I used to go to the gym I was doing really well too! But lockdown happened and I gained ALOT of weight! I'm looking to loose like 6st which only used to be 4st at the beginning of the gym time 😭 I can't motivate myself to meal prep and cook healthy everyday 3 meals a day because I hate every food I'm so so fussy my partner hates it! I only like beef and CHicken and I have to be in the mood for chicken it's got to be a certain shape for me to eat it. I don't like mince I don't like sweet potatoes I literally don't like anything and this is why I struggle to eat healthy because there's a tiny range that I actually like 😭. Has anyone internet fasted before? How did you do it? I don't really understand it to be honest and want advice Thankyou!

I did it for a bit and ended up losing too much weight!
Interestingly it almost immediately reduced my desire for sugar/sugary products.
I would wake up and have a cup of tea/coffee as normal and then just try to stretch out not eating for as long as I could. Drinking water would fill me up, and then I would give in and have (gasp!) an egg with a bit of fat free mayo. Then same again for the rest of the day, relying on fat free greek yoghurt and cucumber with hot sauce to fill me up for hardly any calories.
Then some chicken and veg for dinner with some mustard for flavour. Not fun but it really did the job.

Will drink king a tea or two with skimmed milk (dash) be ok in the fasting hours? I can definitely go without food till later in the morning but would struggle without tea!

Mybabysmylife · 09/03/2021 19:14

@user159 that's same as me I cannot have a tea on a morning I need one!

Yes, fine to have milk in hot drinks, the fast will still work as long as you are not having more than 50 calories during the fast period.
Could you eat your meals with your children so there is just one preparation time?

So.... should we be avoiding carbs when we're intermittent fasting? I've had rice but I've kept to brown rice.

LockdownIsDragging · 09/03/2021 21:37

I do 16/8 without worrying about carbs and lose weight. I do also keep track of calories and as long as I eat no more than 1700 in the 8 hours I lose weight. I have tried eating the same amount spread out over the day and I don’t lose weight.

4LeafClover21 · 09/03/2021 21:43

@LockdownIsDragging thanks. I am counting the calories too. The app I'm using helps me do that. I'm having about 1400 per day. I'm hoping it works [fingers crossed]

poshme · 09/03/2021 21:48

I use the Fastic app. It tracks the days and hours Im fasting.

I start eating at 11am (usually an egg) and stop by 7pm.

It's helping me to stop snacking in the evening.

Mybabysmylife · 09/03/2021 22:40

@LockdownIsDragging all I ate today was , mushroom omelette , 2 hours after I had a snack of some pop crisps that was 70kal. Then before tea I had a muller rice. Then for tea I had a jacket potato and tuna. Then a hour before my fast ends at 7.30 I had some fat free yogurt and some water..

OP, intermittent fasting is good and very simple to do, but it sounds like you really need to focus on having proper nutritious meals when you do eat. Plenty of veg, plenty of good protein, some healthy fats and plenty of water.

fabulousspider · 09/03/2021 23:06

Op mullerrice on empty stomach not ideal, as it's high in sugar and carbs.

LouNatics · 09/03/2021 23:06

This sounds like you are calorie counting? And weightwatchers? And intermittent fasting? That’s a lot to take on at once.

I realised a few years ago that intermittent fasting described how I eat anyway as I’m rarely available to eat before 3pm. Then lockdown happened and I’m at home and the kids are at home so suddenly there is always food available, so I started to feel a bit unhealthy. Not sure how much i weight because I don’t have scales but my trousers got tighter so I started daily exercise- before it was once or twice a week. And have been building that up.

If you only eat chicken or beef in limited formats, maybe you’d be better off with a veggie diet to make sure you are getting enough protein. Egg, nuts, avocados, lentils, green vegetables?

I love beef, steak and a green salad with cucumber and avocado is a great meal for me. Real treat, I’ll stop talking about it or I’ll get hungry!

Anyway, I can sympathise with the snacking thing. Today I ate a hot cross bun for lunch, followed it with some cheese and an apple in the afternoon and then some almonds, some chocolate squares and then dinner which was roast chicken and roasted onions, carrots, peppers and lots of white cabbage with flatbread and tzatsiki (sp?) I have no idea how many calories - I always wonder how anyone knows? I generally just make sure I eat within reason between 1pm and 9pm roughly

I’m a late bird though, I stay up till maybe 2pm each night and don’t get up until 7.30am so you might want to adjust the hours to your choosing.

Mybabysmylife · 10/03/2021 14:17

@LouNatics hey! Thankyou for your input. Anything is needed at this point! I have just started this so when I do my big ship is when I'll be able to get everything I really need. For lunch I've had a tuna salad sandwich with boiled egg. I've had a lot of water for tea I'm going to have home made chicken breast with jerk seasoning and salad and broccoli ☺️
