1 stone loss buddy?

jessyjo2 · 22/02/2021 00:01

So I have put 1 stone on in past few months. With thoughts turning to spring/summer and the wardrobe turning from hoodies to skinny tops I think I better get rid of this stone before anyone sees what is under the baggy hoodie!!
I'm doing the Cancer Research challenge in March to walk 10k steps a day which I thought is perfect excuse to tie in losing 1 stone.
So what I really need is a buddy to work with to share ideas on food and provide encouragement and support to each other.
Have I a buddy?

I definitely agree that having a plan helps. Tomorrow for me should be cheese and onion omelette for lunch and then BBQ pulled beef with corn on the cob, shredded cabbage and roasted tomato for dinner. Probably too many cups of tea as well!

@beeny tomorrow is definitely a new day. Draw a line under today and just keep on going. Some days are just harder than others I think.

jessyjo2 · 02/03/2021 22:26

@AIOR omelette sounds nice. What cheese would u put in or what the least fattening cheese u think?

@jessyjo2 I just use a mature cheddar, 28g is roughly 100 calories I think without going to check the packet. I've tried quite a few of the 50% lower fat cheeses and they don't melt and I wasn't keen on the texture or the taste. Lidl do a 30% lighter cheddar that is quite nice but I haven't been inside a supermarket for months so am reliant on online deliveries.

jessyjo2 · 04/03/2021 16:19

Thanks @AIOR.
Yesterday busy day but thankfully nothing too bad eat.
Today tea, tea, tea until 11am, then scrambled eggs. Lunch potato, peas, gravy & beef.
This evening maybe homemade oven chips, baked beans and 1 fatty sausage!!!
I really need new ideas, getting bored of same foods.

I struggle with the same foods all the time too, it gets very boring doesn't it?

I've been a bit rubbish today and not eaten very much of anything, dinner was a pack of sliced chicken and a banana! Too much work stress at the moment. Will try and do better tomorrow.

muddledmidget · 05/03/2021 10:42

I'm still struggling, not helped by working a 70 hour week this week! I really feel like I need my credit card taken off me and Jane plan or something delivered to me so I can't eat anything that's not on plan! I've not lost any weight this week, but as a positive I've not gained any either. Will definitely try harder next week (only working 45 hours so should eb easier)

jessyjo2 · 05/03/2021 23:11

@Muddledmidget thats awful long hours, u probably exhausted. Very difficult to plan food when such little time. Do u take porridge? I keep a stash of these sachets in my drawer at work, so handy to pop in microwave, 2 minutes, done.
@AIOR agree, same food gets boring.
I will share what im doing, if any help , plus helps me plan out what im doing.
Today. 11am porridge and grapes, lovely.
1pm mug shot
7pm battered fish, potatoes, broccoli and little white sauce.
Countless mugs of tea throughout day.
Sticking to 16/8 much easier than I thought.
Tomorrow's plan:
Porridge and grapes. Homemade veg soup.
Getting chinese takeaway tomorrow night. Thinking of half portion with boiled rice. Not ideal but I'd love a treat!

I lost 1lb this week so now have 11lb to go. Slow and steady seems to be the only way I can sustain this but that's ok.

I did much better with food today. Had 2 boiled eggs on toast for lunch and then steak, mushrooms, onion and peas for dinner. Was lovely! Also had an apple as a snack today and I felt a bit woozy after an 8 mile walk.

jessyjo2 · 06/03/2021 10:07

@AIOR 8 miles??? You were courageous, well done.
Steak, mushrooms and onion sounds lovely. Might steal that idea😏.
1 hour to go until food...........

Porridge and grapes.
Mushroom, ham and onion omlette.
Chinese - boiled rice, chop suey, not too bad apart from stealing others bad food!
Roll on 11am for MORE porridge. Potato, meat and veg for lunch then evening tea homemade veg soup.

@jessyjo2 I often walk miles and miles! It's about the only headspace I ever get in life and I'm lucky to live in a beautiful part of the country with many scenic walks nearby.

I had toast for lunch today as I really fancied it but I know bread is so bad for me. I then had a grilled breakfast for dinner which always feels more calorific than it is!

Tomorrow will be spinach and tomato omelette for lunch and then tikka roasted chicken with roasted cauliflower and greens for dinner.

jessyjo2 · 08/03/2021 23:11

Yippee, down another 3lb. 🥳
Today had porridge. Veg soup, potato bread. Chicken, boiled rice, few oven chips and drizzle of curry. Must admit im really hungry and have to last until 11am 😒.
Tomorrow's plan:
Breakfast: Weetabix with boiled water and bit milk, maybe banana.
Lunch: Bacon (fat chopped off), fried egg, mushrooms, onion, fried potato.
Dinner: pasta bolognese.
I really think writing next days plan down helps, saves last minute processed food being cooked.
How u all getting on? What u been eating?

Well done @jessyjo2 on your 3lb loss, that's brilliant!

I'm still plodding along, it's slow progress though. Yesterday I had chicken, cheese cubes and an apple for lunch and meatballs in a tomato and veg sauce for dinner.

Today will be boiled eggs on a slice of toast for lunch and veg soup for dinner. Plenty of tea to try and stay warm!

jessyjo2 · 18/03/2021 14:43

I have been a bit quiet recently. I guess I thought it better to hide as knew I had been so bad!!
Mothers day treats, pizza night, burger king, any wonder I put 3lb back on again!!
On then there is the upcoming DD birthday......... more cake!!
Anyway Im determined that won't stop me, so easy to throw in the towel when u have a bad week.
Today had scrambled eggs, ost pancakes with fat free yougart and an apple. Low fat mince, potato and lots veg planned for later. Hopefully all food consumed by 6.30, determined to do my 16 hours fast.

It's so hard with all these occasions isn't it? My kids are young and didn't know it was mother's day so I didn't have to deal with the mountains of chocolate this year! Glad you're back now though, weightloss is definitely a rollercoaster of ups and downs before getting to the end!

I have lost 3lb this week, last week I had put on 1lb. 9lb to go now, it's so slow but I'm in the right headspace at the moment to ignore all the treats so I'll keep plodding along!

Now the kids are back to school my steps have increased which is good, easily hitting 10k a day now and have started a toning exercise program which is just a free app I found online.

I am so bored with food though but on the plus side I'm not ever hungry. Today will be chicken and sweetcorn mixed with a small amount of mayo and pepper for lunch, grapes for a snack and I have no idea about dinner tonight as the kids aren't home, maybe eggs on toast or something.

jessyjo2 · 25/03/2021 21:01

@AIOR well done on the loss, you are doing great. U must b walking a lot to clock up so many steps.
I really have done very little exercise. Generally sticking to 16:8 and mostly ok food. Lost few lb this week thankfully as last week Id put it on😭.
Today, more porridge, more eggs, more apples, more tea and beef with rice for tea. Im hungry now, 14 hours to go😔.
Tomorrows food, weetabix, homemade veg soup and spag bol.

@jessyjo2 well done on your loss this week, it's not good that you feel hungry now though, sorry if I'm teaching you to suck eggs but do you have enough protein in your dinner to keep the hunger away until morning? I can't sleep if I'm hungry!

I've done ok food wise this week but will see what the scales say tomorrow morning. I'm hoping it's good news. Tomorrow I have ham, cucumber, cheese and carrot for lunch and then chicken and veg pie with extra veg on the side for dinner. Have fancied pastry this week so bought some puff pastry to make the pie tomorrow.
