New scales. OMFG!

I had a wake up call on Monday. I ordered some new jeans in size 20, and couldn’t fasten them!
My weight has been creeping up in the last few years and I’ve gone from a size 10 to now being unable to get into a 20.
Me and DD24 decided to do 16:8, according to our scales I was 80kgs, which didn’t seem right, considering my clothes size, so I ordered us both a Fitbit and some Bluetooth scales. I got on the scales yesterday and I’m actually 105kg, that’s 16st9lb!
So, it starts here, every Saturday I’m going to weigh myself and log my weight here. My goal is to get back to 9st7lb, but anywhere south of 10st8lb sounds good to me.

Good luck!

Stargazer89 · 07/02/2021 14:45

Good luck!
Can I join in too? I am going to order some scales off amazon but really nervous about weighing myself. I had a baby in July but was overweight before falling pregnant and haven’t lost much of my baby weight still.
Like you my weight had been slowly creeping up over the past few years. I’d like to be a couple of stone lighter by July.
Are you restricting calories?
We can do this!

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 07/02/2021 15:03

These are the scales I bought. They’ve got good reviews and you can keep a record of your weight through the app.
Thanks for the good luck wishes.
I’m not calorie counting atm, just fasting for between 16 and 18 hours and cutting out sweet stuff, today I’ve had 2 slices of seeded bread toast with butter and we’re having roasted peppers, garlic and butternut squash with pork steak for dinner.
I’ve also done 20 minutes on the exercise bike Smile

Good luck op! I ordered blue tooth scales because unless it is recorded on my phone, I just walk away and make up a number that suits me Grin

10kaDay · 08/02/2021 00:50

Wishing you the best OP: sounds like you are ready to make some changes and I’ve personally found the Fitbit really motivating to use

Stargazer89 · 09/02/2021 08:20

Morning OP. How are you getting on? I weighed myself this morning for the first time since being pregnant and I am 87.2kg which is around 13 and a half stone. I have 3 stone to loose to get me to a happy weight and 2 stone to get within a healthy BMI! Feeling determined now.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 09/02/2021 09:03

Good morning @Stargazer89. How are you planning to lose your weight? I’ve been doing the fasting for a week now, but Saturday is going to be our weigh in day, as we weighed ourselves last Saturday.
I got my DD to take a couple of full length photos of me and we’re going to keep a photographic record every month. That was another wake up call as well let me tell you!
So far we’re not struggling with the fasting, we’ve not even craved our usual biscuits, cakes or crisps, but we’ve said we’re not going to deny ourselves the occasional treat, just so long as it’s within our non fasting hours.
Yesterday we had 2 boiled eggs with 2 slices of toast and chicken breast with peppers, tomatoes and carrots roasted with garlic. It was bloody delicious Smile
I’m still fasting at the moment, but today’s menu is porridge and half a banana, then later we’re having chicken curry with roast sprouts.

Well done @GenuineKlatchianPottery it sounds like you have got off to a good start. I took photos too and it was def a kick up the backside for me. Atm I am planning on calorie counting and doing lots of walking but I might try the fasting like you because I find I most want to binge first thing in the morning so by not allowing myself anything during that time might actually help.
My downfall is chocolate and alcohol 🥴

LApprentiSorcier · 09/02/2021 17:00

A tip if you are scared of weighing yourself - set the scales to show a calibration you don't normally think in - lbs if normally kgs, kgs if normally stones. You can then track your weight loss without getting obsessed with particular milestones. I'm trying to lose 3 stone but am weighing myself in kgs.

AlmostAJillSandwich · 10/02/2021 20:30

I did this, and my actual weight ended up being 17st 10lb :O
Now at 15st 9, not got a "goal" weight rather a goal size 12-14.

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 13/02/2021 10:24

Weigh in Saturday!
I just weighed myself and I’m now 16st5lb.
So that’s a 4lb loss for me this week.
How’s everyone else getting on?

Good job!

Stargazer89 · 13/02/2021 10:59

Well done OP that’s great work. I weighed in at 85.7kg today so i have lost around 1.5kg xx

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 22/02/2021 13:44

I couldn’t post over the weekend, but I’ve lost another 1lb, I’m now 16st4lb.
I was a bit disappointed with this I’m not going to lie, but it’s going in the right direction at leastSmile

@GenuineKlatchianPottery congratulations on the loss I'm eyeing up these scales now do they show the weight in stones and pounds and can you have more than one person on the profile - Amazon answers are not clear! 🤔

chipsandpeas · 23/02/2021 10:10

i weight in kilos as its easier to see slight drops, ie one day i may be 80.1kg then 2 days later im 79.7kg
where weight in lbs i wasnt seeing slight drops so was a bit demotivated

@GenuineKlatchianPottery those scales look good, but can you weigh without recording the weight

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 23/02/2021 10:38

@mommybear1 you can have weight in pounds, stones and pounds or kilograms. You can have more than one person on them, so long as they have the app on their own phone. However as @chipsandpeas asked, you can also weigh yourself without the app and it won’t record it.

mommybear1 · 23/02/2021 11:05

@GenuineKlatchianPottery @chipsandpeas thank you both off to order some now Blushdreading the result!

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 06/03/2021 08:59

I completely forgot to post last week.
Anyway, I’m just off the scales at 16stone 1.8lbs.
That’s 7.2lbs down from the 7th. I’ve also dropped 1 point off my BMI.
My DD is doing really well too, she’s lost 6kg and dropped 2 points off her BMI.
I hope everyone else is feeling ok? It’s a beautiful Springlike morning here, we’re going to take the cat for a walk in the park later..Smile

@GenuineKlatchianPottery
How have you been getting on with the 16:8? I'm interested in doing it and just wondered if you had anymore updates? 😊

GenuineKlatchianPottery · 09/04/2021 21:48

Hi @Twinmummyanda4yearold, I’m still sticking with it, it’s going quite well, I’m down to 15 stone 11 nowSmile
I definitely recommend it, I also downloaded the Fastic app as well, it helps because it reminds you when to start your fast, and there’s a fun little graphic that tells you the fasting stages your body is going through.
Good luck.

@GenuineKlatchianPottery
That's brilliant well done 😊 I'll have a look into that app, think I'm going to give it a try 😊
