Nutracheck calorie counter question

Hoping one of you lovely ladies might be able to clarify something for me please?

My calorie counter app thinks I need 1,200 calories a day to get to my target weight by April, I exercised enough today to burn 949 calories and instead of 1,200 my allowance has gone up significantly today.

I have stayed within my limits today, I still have 103 calories I can eat apparently but looking at what I’ve eaten today it’s come out at 2,058!
Even though the app is saying I still have 103 left, I’m feeling really disgusted with myself now.

Is it okay or I have messed up for today?
I’m desperate to lose the weight now, I have at least 5 stone to lose!

You will be fine for one day.
I use MFP and stopped logging exercise as if I ever ate the calories back I never lost -and sometimes actually gained!
Seemingly it’s easy for fitness calories to be over estimated.

I like this guy for motivation.

Oh damn it Angry
So I need to stick to 1,200kcal daily then to lose regardless of the higher allowance on the app?

Well that’s what I found at any rate & I know plenty of others on threads have said the same about MFP, I’m not familiar with nutracheck though but just assume it would be similar.
Work out your tdee here -that’s your maintenance calories. Reduce by 20% to find calories to lose weight. 1200 might be too low to sustain.

I lost 3 stone by eating around 1,400-1,500 calories a day but I did it over time. I think it’s better to stick to a decent amount of calories & do it slower than aim too low and it not be sustainable and end up giving in. MFP set me at -I think- 1,300.

One day eating over calories will be okay.

Okay, it’s come out at 2,583 to maintain!
How do I work out what 20% is..?
I have always been utterly useless at maths 🤦🏻‍♀️

It works out at 2,066 so I’m guessing you have quite a bit of weight to lose (apologies if not, it may just be you have overestimated activity levels) so to lose weight quicker then you could certainly reduce that amount to 1,500 but don’t need to go as low as 1,200 if you are finding it difficult to sustain.

Yes, 5 stone to lose to get to the highest end of my ‘healthy’ BMI

And activity levels, usually I hit somewhere between 15 and 20,000 steps/usually walk somewhere between 7 and 10 miles a day

That’s a lot of walking! It must take ages -impressive Smile

Here’s some steps info

20000 Steps A Day Weight Loss

Walking 20000 steps a day may be a real challenge for you, especially if you lead a sedentary lifestyle and you don’t have that much free time. However, it is easier than sweating it out for hours in the gym and, as was mentioned before, doesn’t require any special equipment. All you need is comfy clothes and proper footwear. Picking the right shoes may not only significantly improve your experience, but also reduce the risk of injury. When choosing walking shoes, make sure that they are fairly lightweight, provide good shock absorption, and fit you perfectly (9).

To know how many calories walking 20000 steps a day weight loss burns, you need to consider three factors – your initial parameters (weight, height, sex, age), the distance you are walking, and the intensity of the process. 2000 steps equal approximately 1 mile (1.61 km). So, walking 20000 steps means that you walk 10 miles (16 km) (8). An hour of walking with the speed of 4 mph (6.4 km/h) burns 270 calories in a 125-pound person, 334 calories in a 155-pound person, and 400 calories in a 185-pound person (3).

Based on that information, you can calculate, that making 20000 steps a day with the walking speed of 4 mph may burn 675 calories in a 125-pound person, 835 calories in a 155-pound person, and a 1000 calories in a 185-pound person. These numbers are pretty impressive, and if you accompany your 20000 steps a day weight loss plan with a healthy nutrition and proper hydration, you may expect visible results in the near time. You can use the calories burnt calculator to calculate how many calories you require, how many you burn, and how many you should consume in order to reach the desired result

You need to go into The green options box from the diary page, then settings-diary preferences, then daily totals and set them to separate. It sounds like you have them on combined, so if you do extra exercise it adds you extra calories. It’s never worked for me, so I keep them separate and stick to the allocated calories.
