I am devastated. I knew I was overweight and needed to do something but tbh I've been putting it off. I am not in a good place mentally after loosing my Mum in June so have been over eating. I weigh 2st more than I thought and I am a good 7 stone overweight. I have tried slimming world and ww in the past but just pile the weight back on when I stop. Is there any other weight loss groups etc that people would recommend?

@Bexily I empathise my DM died in April and over eating went into over drive. I need to loose about 5 stone, I've lost 10lbs that I know of since 31/8 but I suspect I've lost more but wasn't brave enough to weigh myself, I've probably lost closer to 20lbs. I still need to loose over 4 stone.
The most important thing in my experience is your head has to be in the right place if not I'm doomed to fail. In simple terms I've lost by reducing calories in and walking more. I'm avoiding alcohol, bread, biscuits, cake, cheese, chocolate. The big thing for me is not snacking after dinner.

What are you willing to give up in return to loae weight?

Eg im willing to ditch carbs so i do keto
Eg im willing to starve sometimes but i want days where i relax and eat anything 4:3 diet
Eg im willing to take 2 or 3 years to lose slowly but do it comfortably : sw, ww, 'healthy' eating, 1800cal diet

What has been your down fall before? Eg self sabotage/comfort eating.. ok then read some books on that or counselling
Eg forbidden food, ok then do something where you can still eat them or take steps to ban them

Are you will to sacrifice comfort for quick results? Cambridge and the like.
Do you have the money and willingness to get a gastric balloon?

My bottom line is all diets work if you stick on them lobg enough. Do a post mortem on why you gained the weight, analyse your data and go from there.

Aurorie11 thank you. You are right until you're in the right frame of mind it won't work. I am thinking of trying counting calories rather than slimming world or something.

Craddle64 It's definitely self sabotage. I was wondering about hypnotherapy or something to change my mind set. When I'm in the right mind set I'm very determined and have good self control but then something happens and I get stressed so eat more.

I need something easy to follow, I have a demanding job and two young children so I'm quite busy and don't have a lot of time to make meals.

@Bexily be kind to yourself.

I'm counting calories trying to do less than 1200, I'm tending to do two main meals and a snack, so tend to miss breakfast or lunch but mix it up. Today I've had a bacon roll for breakfast and won't eat until tonight when it's roast beef, and I'll just have a sensible portion. The only food I have the rest of the house don't is homemade soup, I bought a soup kettle and just throw leftover vegetables in. On the days I have soup, I'll probably have an apple and/ or banana for breakfast, then a bowl of soup at lunch and a small portion of whatever everyone else is having for dinner.
I also work and have a couple of kids, and just take weight loss one day at a time
