Clothes- do I get rid of them?

I have lost about 2.5 stone since May and although I still have another couple to go, a lot of my clothes are now too big. Pre- children I was always very slim around 9.5 stone and I still have a lot of my old clothes which I have kept in the hope of wearing them again. I’m around size 12-14 now so a lot of my larger clothes are too big.

Do I keep the larger sizes or get rid of them as and when they become too big. Part of me thinks get rid asap, as I’ll never need them again. Another part of me thinks, hang onto them just in case.

What are you doing/planning to do?

On the positive side, I’m enjoying getting into clothes I haven’t worn for a long time and hoping I may even get into some of the nicer things I haven’t worn for a good 8-10 years!

Get rid! That way if your smaller things start getting a little bit snug at some point, you can Rein it in and make adjustments, So they start fitting better, rather than resorting to the larger sizes that you definitely Do not want to end up filling again!
Well done on your weight loss, enjoy your new (old) wardrobe.

Yes get rid. I got rid of about six bin bags full (some to the charity shop, some in recycling, some bin). Well done on the loss

That’s what I was wondering Blank. It seems pointless (dangerous even!) to hold onto stuff that’s too big, but I have an odd attachment to them which must sound really weird. Like a safety net I suppose.

I’m going to get rid. I’m sure I’ll want to buy a few new things, so I’ll need the space!

Thanks for the congrats too. I still have a way to go, but I’m determined to do it. I’ve come this far, so I just have to keep going.

Ger rid or if they were expensive and/or you love them alter them to fit (or find someone to alter them) or repurpose.

Get rid. I'm nearly 1.5 stone down and I am getting rid as i go. I don't want to creep back up again and have something to wear.

Also psychologically I feel very frumpy in my 'fat' jeans and tv shirt and really want to wear something nicer. I have about 3 stone to go I reckon so what I wear now will have to be interim! The smaller bits of my fat clothes.

I’m having a clear out now! I do have some nice thing which I will donate to a charity shop and the rest can go to the clothes bank.
