16:8 - how does it really work and will it work for me?

I'm turning 35 in 3 weeks, just had DC2 4 months ago. I gained 10kg overall, and I have lost 6kg so far, 4 more to go.

With 2 small kids I'm really struggling to not snack and eat mindlessly especially due to lockdown. I want to try 16:8 but I'm skeptical of it will work for me because technically I'm already at a very healthy BMI. I'm 54kg and want to get back to
50kg which I've been for the last 20 years I'm only 5ft to put that into context).

Will 16:8 really help me lose weight? Wouldn't I still need to count calories?

would love to hear some real life feedback on this as well. Seems like it's too easy - if there is such a thing!

Thanks @HerRoyalNotness - will take a look!

It works because you're simply eating less.

But of course if you eat all the time during the allowed period, it won't work.
