Starting a lockdown Weighloss Challenge today

I am disgusted with how much weight I have put on over lockdown. I am sure I wont fit my office clothes and dont want to go to work in my PJs so I am going to report here when I weigh in what I lose. I started yesterday and lost 2 pounds, I know I shouldnt weigh daily but I was so hungry and about to give up, so weighed myself to see if day one (I know it will be mainly water!) had made a difference.

I want to lost at least 2 stone but am prepared to do it healthily and slowly.

This is a double challenge for me as I am giving up smoking too, this is day one, just smoked my last cigarette. Anyone want to join me, please feel free.

I will probably come on when I need support and to stop myself caving in.

Hi Jenasaurus....I’m in the same boat; have piled weight on during lockdown & that’s on top of weight I’ve piled on since Xmas - about stone and half! So I’m up for this challenge. Day 1 for me tomorrow & like the idea of reporting the loss each week.
I’ve decided that I’m going to plan a (non food) reward for each half stone...so my first reward is going to be a new bag 😁
2 stone will be to book ( or plan) a long weekend away. I’m feeling really enthusiastic ....we can do this 💫⭐️✨

Hello!

I'll join you. I actually started today too 😊

I have about 1.5 stone to lose.

Set up my fitbit yesterday and was up at 4am running with dog. Then went to tesco at 6am for opening and stocked up on ketoish stuff. I'm not doing keto, but trying to eat a lower carb diet just because I find it keeps me fuller for longer.

So plenty of meat, eggs, cheese, salad, veggies. Making it up as I go along but we'll see!

I'm a fan of weighing daily. I think it can help keep you focused. I tend to gain an extra stone over the winter and lost it going into summer and I always weigh daily.

So here's my starting point!

O will join, I have 12lb to lose.

I also weigh daily and record it in the FitBit app that then gives you a weekly average. My weight fluctuates throughout the week so it is a more accurate way of doing it.

truelove · 04/05/2020 09:44

I’ll join you too! I don’t need to lose much - would be very happy with 5-7 lbs. I fast every day and eat within 4-5 hour window but it’s amazing how much you can shovel in during that time Grin Will be sticking to the fasting and trying to make better choices during my eating window.

FoxRedLabrador · 04/05/2020 09:55

I am in!

We have just started TTC. I want to use the time it takes to get to my healthiest weight possible. Every little helps, but aiming for an initial 2 stone over the next few months.

Also giving up booze because my consumption has spiralled during lockdown!

For anyone wanting to try calorie tracking, you can get 3 free months of My fitness Pal premium. Just make sure you go to settings to turn off auto renew and avoid being charged in 3 mo ths time - worked for me! 😊

I'm in. I have a stone to lose of baby weight and ideally would like to lose it before I return to work in mid July. I have also been over eating in lock down but have been making better choices and exercising the last week. I sort of fast as I just have a coffee for breakie then a protein shake for lunch then a full dinner. Trying to roughly be low carb and more protein. Difficulty for me is night time snacking. Starting weight 11st 6

MargotB7 · 04/05/2020 18:29

I'd like to join. I've not weighed yet but I would like to lose about 1.5 stone. I have started today. I think I will do that from tomorrow though, coffee for breakfast, shake for lunch and then a dinner.

truelove · 04/05/2020 19:06

20 hour fast today and a long walk this afternoon. Had a couple of boiled eggs and a few almonds. Having stir fry and halloumi for dinner and maybe a few blueberries with Greek yogurt. WFH (away from the kitchen!) the next three days which I find makes fasting easier. How’s everyone else’s day been so far?

Bookaholic73 · 04/05/2020 19:08

Can I join in?

I have 3st to lose in total, but slow and steady wins the race.
I’ve been thinking about trying low carb/Keto but am still unsure.

FoxRedLabrador · 04/05/2020 19:43

@truelove Managed to stay on track so far today. I agree it's so hard being so close to the kitchen working from home. However, I actually think I snack less at home than at work where colleague's constantly bring cakes and sweet temptations!

Minimal shopping trips can be helpful - I'm planning healthy snacks and just not buying too much to overeat. If it's gone half way through the week it's gone! Have had some sugar desperation 10pm baking sessions though 🙈

Hubby's birthday this week: will be allowing myself cake but a reasonable portion and no seconds (wish me luck)

wanderlove · 05/05/2020 11:47

So did ok yesterday: coffee for breakfast, protein shake for lunch and then 2 lamb loft as with quinoa and salad for tea with Greek yoghurt for afters. All going well and then scoffed about 10 crackers and a choc ice at 10 O Clock. This always happens! Does anyone have any advice about beating late night cravings? I manage fine during the day but lose it at night!

Nothingfallingdowntoday · 05/05/2020 11:53

Can I join please.

Disgusted with myself when I weighed this morning but need to move on from that. Starting weight 10st 10

20lbs to loose but going to do slow, steady and sensible with a view to keeping it off.

My thinking is to take advantage of the fact I’ve got no holidays so no bikini fear!

FoxRedLabrador · 05/05/2020 14:45

@wanderlove Sugar free jelly! Filling, mostly water (8 kcals a portion) and hits the sweet treat cravings for me. Also eating tea as late as possible, and brushing your teeth for bed earlier than you usually would can help. Or just go to sleep early haha

LycraLovingLass · 05/05/2020 16:34

I brush my teeth and put my retainer in if I am being really good and determined not to snack.

Stayed within calories yesterday.

wanderlove · 05/05/2020 19:12

Yes to the tooth brushing! Although to a determined snacker like me I think I'd just brush them again 😂😂this is definitely my Achilles heel so will try these tips tonight. Run 30km so far this week but having a rest day so will have a bath and do some yoga. Am also really trying to up my fluid intake, again something I struggle with but know is good for me

wanderlove · 05/05/2020 19:13

Are people going to weigh themselves once a week or daily? What's best?

truelove · 05/05/2020 22:41

Daily weigher here. It keeps me on track and motivates me if it’s going down. I can cope with the random fluctuations that invariably happen. Another good day today and feeling motivated. Thanks for starting the thread OP.

truelove · 05/05/2020 22:44

@wanderlove I’ve seen recommended Never Binge Again by Glenn Livingston on a FB group I’m in. May be worth a look?

Bookaholic73 · 06/05/2020 07:49

I’m planning on weighing once a week. A Saturday morning I think.
I’m starting at 13st exactly. My aim is 10st.

I eat healthy meals but snack on junk in the evening, so that’s what I’m going to be tackling first.

wanderlove · 06/05/2020 19:00

There's seems to be a few of us with evening snacking problems. Maybe we can help each other. I'm currently brushing my teeth and about to do some weights in the back yard. Still not decided to do about the weighing. I'm thinking weekly so I can hopefully see a difference. A pound a week is my goal. I'd love to lose a stone in the next three months
