Can anyone recommend a good exercise DVD that actually makes you work hard?

Just wondering as all the ones I have bought are really tame.

I am reasonably fit but can't always get to the gym when I want to - but I want a DVD that will get me sweaty and out of breath.

Any ideas?

Rosemary Connelly's fat busting dvd certainly made me sweat and was quite varied and not boring. I'm just badly motivated so gave up!It's not as fashionable as most on the shelves but I did find it worked everything and you could split it into chunks and different sections.

Ooh that one sounds good - tbh, I have Rosemary Conley's Salsacise which I love but doesn't get me sweaty and another one of hers on video (shows how old that is) that was quite hard work but we no longer have a video player.

Nell Mcandrew PEAK ENERGY is the mother of all exercize dvds. The closest thing u can get to running. ITs 40 minutes of running on the spot with arms thrown in. Im a runner and use it when i go away or cant get out.

Davina McCall's 'Power of 3' is pretty hard going I thought.

Rosemary Conley's Salsacise is crap.

Bellyhangingover · 09/09/2007 21:28

lol, @ rosemary connelly, i used to do Beverley Callards which barely broke me out in a sweat and one day there i was, doing some tedious floor work to 'blue moon' and i realised, hey i dont want a body like beverley callards, what am i doing? And when out and bought Nell... So with that in mind, do u want to look like rosemary connelly?

Like the sound of the Nell McAndrew one - I am used to very high-impact aerobics at the gym so would like something as close to that as possible.

Gibberish - did Power of 3 last week and didn't like it all. Couldn't stand Davina's gurning throughout and I didn't really find it hard

I love Billy Blanks Tae Bo, combat based series of DVDs. They claim to burn 800 calories an hour and I find him very motivational and good fun.

gibberish · 09/09/2007 21:41

Lol knew you were going to say that

Yes, she is rather irritating throughout it. Quite like the music though.

You need Nell McAndrew's Peak Energy or Ultimate Challenge. Also, Tae Bo's Everybody Get Ripped's 1 hour Advanced work out.

Those will definitely give you want you are looking for - breathlessness!

lucylala · 13/09/2007 12:41

Tae Bo is fab and Billy really gets you to go for it!

I thought Davina was a really good workout and I couldn't walk for about a week afterwards! However, thought the music was terrible!

Nearly everything by Cathe Friedrich but you will have to order from USA. Well worth it though. www.cathe.com

well anything Billy Blanks Tae Bo, is brill, so are all of Nell McAndrews workout (and she will have a new one out,, soon, a core workout) and also Davinas are very good...not that I tried her pregnancy one, likle, but the other 2 dvd's are a bargain, especially if you get them cheap as a nboxset for almost 2 for 1 price
Vicky Entwistles DVD is also good!
Kathy Smith doe brillaint toning exercise.
Also do like Kate's Cardio Combat (BB 3 winner girl)
