Small lifestyle changes for weight loss

I can’t seem to stick to a diet or anything so I’m really looking for small lifestyle changes that would help me with my weight loss

Any ideas?

Don't attempt a lot of changes at once, do one a week.

  • Replacing fizzy drinks with squash, water, or diet fizzy drinks
  • Walking part of your commute or parking somewhere further away
  • Walking on your lunch break
  • Drinking a glass of water when you reach for a snack and waiting 10 minutes, you'll likely forget about the snack
  • Eating fruit instead of pudding
  • Using a side plate rather than a dinner plate to ensure a smaller portion
  • Reducing the amount of sugar in your tea and coffee

cut out one thing at a time. So for example, no evening snacks, then no afternoon snacks, then no morning snacks. Then take out puddings. Limit alcohol. Then reduce portion size. The weight will come off, no dieting/specific adjustments. Just consuming less, bit by bit.

I read a book by MARISA PEER called YOU CAN BE THIN which is all about making lifestyle changes rather than dieting and it's worked for me I'd recommend.

Start logging all food and exercise on My Fitness Pal. It’s a great way to track calories in and out.

Redcrayons · 17/02/2020 20:04

Log all food in MFP which helped me get to grips with portion control.

Thanks for the tips everyone. I’ll definitely try using a side plate instead @LittleBearinaBigWorld
@Nighttimenope I don’t really snack expect for the evening. And I think that’s my biggest problem is my evening snacks. Without them I’d probably be skinny haha
@WestCountryLady glad it’s working for you I’ll have a look for it!
@Wineloffa I used to count all my calories and actually lost quite abit of weight but I just stop doing it after a certain amount of time Sad I just wish I could stick to it as I know it would work

Things like slotting a ten minute walk in a break at work will help but will be minimal in terms of calorie burning.

You can take the stairs, not the lift.

Unfortunately, the exercise you can burn from calories is so small in relation to burning calories from eating less.

Top 5 snacks :

Hard boiled eggs
Apples
Veg crudités
Homemade lentil and veg soup
Cottage cheese

Don't drink milky drinks.
Don't drink soda.
Don't drink (too much) alcohol

Cut the bread/pasta/rice - replace with roast squash, roast veg, baked potatoes (sweet and white)

Simply don't buy fattening evening snacks. A handful of peanuts is around 300 cals!

Ditch sugar and all fake sugar - this includes a lot of diet/low fat versions of things. Then start walking more, or whatever easy exercise you find enjoyable.

Make overnight oats with chia seeds in the evening for breakfast. Filling and healthy and no faffing in the morning.

NoS would be a good long term way to live I think.

3 meals a day, 3 plates
No seconds, no snacking, no sweet stuff apart from days that are Saturday, Sunday or Special (birthdays etc)
Fruit allowed on your 3 plates as a pudding

I've just given up my 4-6 daily tassimo coffees, after checking them out on MFP. I bought a coffee cup with a plunger and a bag of decentish coffee, instead.

Also ordered instant Miso soup paste, for when I fancy a salty snack. It's only 25kcals, so can justify 2-3 crackers with it.

Bananas.

Early nights! Puts some distance between you and the fridge!
