Have I lost too much too quickly?

BIt of info, start of last week I was 19 stone and 5 ft 9 so quite overweight. probably eating between 2500 and 3000 calories on a bad day. classic story stay at home mum just snacks when bored, sad frustrated. also used to drink 2l of diet coke every other day.

I started a new diet last monday. counting all of my calories on one of those apps. and have stuck to 1500 for the past week and a half. I feel it's sustainable and i've broken the snacking habit (touch wood.) and caffeine but i don't feel hungry or like I'm not eating. I just weighed myself and I've lost 10 pounds since last week. everywhere online says it's not healthy to lose more than 3 pounds a week but I assume this is just the initial weight loss and because my weight is high and will slow down. Is it okay for me to continue or should I lose weight a bit slower?

It will slow down - 1500 will be fine unless you’re working out for hours each day.
At the start you can lose a lot of water weight so I would expect it to slow down to 2-3lb a week fro now on.

Sounds about right for the weight you started at. A lot of it will probably be water weight and you've pretty much cut your calories in half so you'd expect a dramatic loss at the start. I think 1500 is a sensible amount daily. Well done!

Thanks a lot, I would like for this to be a long term dietary plan more than a fad diet so I'm pleased that it is sustainable

Well done you - your doing great!

The first week or two I always lose big (yep I've done it way more than once) usually a good bit of the weight is water retention at the start.

If you can lose 2-3 pounds a week that's fantastic, but don't be discouraged if its a pound or even half a pound, it all adds up and its going in the right direction.

Well done! Try not to focus too much on numbers, but concentrate on being healthy, your energy levels and how you feel. Maybe weigh yourself every 1 to 2 weeks.

Well done on changing your habits. It's not easy to do, but I hope you feel proud of yourself. Keep going! Flowers

Carry on. It will slow down. I’m about your height and have been in around 1500 calories a day for 4 months. I’m now losing only around a pound a month but it was lots in the beginning. Good luck.

That’s amazing OP.

As others can say, it will slow down. Just track everything and stick to 1500 cals. It will drop off xx
