My last Christmas overweight

muddledmidget · 25/12/2019 19:54

Having spent the day eating what feels like everything in sight, plus being given a passive aggressive present from my mother in law (I wasn't sure if it might be too big, but I think it will be fine... As I unwrapped it) I'm now determined that this is my last ever Christmas in the overweight BMI category. Currently a stone overweight having lost half a stone recently, and have never been more determined to finally stop putting lose weight on my new year's resolutions list! So next Christmas I will be 2 stone lighter and able to run 10km in an hour. Anyone else feeling podgy and making an early start on new year's resolutions?

We’re away in May cauliflower and it def gives you some motivation doesn’t it.

I am doing 5:2 did a fast day yesterday, today is my grans birthday salmon for lunch which was good but I did have birthday cake although passed on the chocolate later, no idea on calories though. Soup for tea and I’ve done 20 mins on the treadmill and 6 minutes with a weighted hula hoop. I’ve just bought a heavier one, on my old one I could do 30 mins no problem but I can really feel the difference having gone up to the heavier one it was a lot harder.

Have you all started now or waiting until new year?

Queenoftheashes · 29/12/2019 21:59

I’m not weighing myself until a few days into the new year it’ll be too awful

vxa2 · 29/12/2019 22:23

Can I join please? I need to lose 9kg which I think is about a stone and a half. I am off work with depression and feeling fat makes everything worse. I would like to be able to go back to work a bit lighter and more positive.

stoplickingthetelly · 29/12/2019 22:28

I’ve had a rubbish Christmas present wise. A few years ago I lost about 2 1/2 stone, but have since put it all back on (plus more!) My family seem to think I’m still the same size so I’ve be bought lots of lovely jumpers, pjs etc and none of it fits - it’s all too small. I could cry. Too embarrassed to ask in-laws for receipt and dh has lost his receipts. Plus I don’t really want to exchange for a bigger size. I really need to lose the weight again but this time I absolutely need to keep it off (the hardest part for me).

onemouseplace · 29/12/2019 22:35

I’m in. I’m currently the biggest I’ve ever been without being pregnant and have just tipped overs into the obese category. Plus I just lack energy and have stopped doing any exercise as I look and feel so dreadful. Currently on holiday and keep catching sight of myself in photos and in window reflections and I look terrible!

I’m away in May as well and really want to have lost a decent amount of weight before then.

saggybaps · 29/12/2019 22:55

Me too! 3 stone Overweight and can’t stop bingeing. It all stops Jan 1st. I too would love to run 10k in 1hr!! Let’s do this

stoplickingthetelly · 29/12/2019 23:07

@onemouseplace I know what you mean about the photos. I’m just into the obese category too and hate having my photo taken. I’m always the photographer instead. My dc are 7 and 4 and I’ve got very few photos of me with them because of the way I look. I would love to be confident enough to have my picture taken with them.

Also currently 3 stone overweight, I was the same 4 years ago and lost it in 4 months with heavy gym and MFP calorie counting, I’m up for it again and a 10k which I’ve never done before! An hour seems a high target for me though. Maybe 80 minutes, so I’m in.

Hurricane10 · 29/12/2019 23:21

My First post, you've inspired me. Currently 3 stone overweight and at an age when I'm starting to feel it. I really need to make a change and hope it can start now.

TheGirlFromStoryville · 29/12/2019 23:30

May I join?
I need to lose a lot of weight - ideally about 8 stone.
My dd has suggested c25K? I get out of breath walking up our road, which is on a slight in line.

I was thinking of slimming World but may do slim fast for a few days just for ease of planning. Going to start on 1st Jan.

It would be great to have support and encouragement for each other!

TheGirlFromStoryville · 29/12/2019 23:31

*incline, sorry!

Queenoftheashes · 01/01/2020 10:14

Today’s the day then
Dry veganuary for me. And going to do some slimming world type curries today.

PumpkinParent · 01/01/2020 10:23

Morning. Me too. The excess HAS to go. Aiming to lose 12kg although have severe bilateral knee arthritis by reason of wrongly shaped kneecaps (replacement knee op in 2020). This cannot be a reason not to become lighter, however. In fact, it can only help.
Smaller portion sizes, no snacking (my weakness), rationed alcohol (am not a bit drinker but isn’t a glass of wine 400 odd calories at a stroke?) and knee-appropriate exercise.

Wolveretta · 01/01/2020 12:53

Im going to do dry January to kick start things, and stop snacking once kids are in bed. I have the first pinch of nom book and some of the recipes are really nice, so going to make an effort with cookihg from scratch more as I eat way too many takeaways. I should hopefully save money too. Hoping for 11lb loss by feb half term.

369thegoosedrankwine · 01/01/2020 12:57

I'm in too. I have gradually got bigger and saw a video of myself doing just dance last night and thought that's it!
I'm doing dry January too and going back to slimming world tomorrow morning for accountability of the weigh in.

I'm the heaviest I've been since having my baby....10 years ago.

LissJas · 01/01/2020 19:17

I dare not weigh myself. I did last week and I was about half a stone lighter than I had been, but I can feel that I've put it all back on! Jeans too tight Sad

My plan is to do what I was doing before really,,cut down on alcohol, no junk food, lots of water, lots of sleep, plenty of protein and fibre, fruit and veg, etc. Plus the gym every day after school drop off (cardio one day, weights the next, swim, play squash, Pilates, etc.). Also, I've really noticed that I've stopped paying attention to whether or not I am ACTUALLY hungry when I eat.

My downfall is making myself accountable. Oh, and the fact that I'm on medication which makes people gain weight. Not in and of itself, but it interferes with your brain processes and makes it difficult to curb appetite.

But come on!! We can all do this! 💪

muddledmidget · 01/01/2020 19:30

I'm glad I'm not alone in my mission. I weighed in today as I always do on 1st Jan, and this is the first year in a decade where I've not been heavier than the previous year! So feeling really motivated. I'm still 16lbs above a healthy BMI but I'm on the right track.

Food today hasn't been terrible but all my meals have been a little bigger than they should have been. I'm breaking my year down into smaller habits that I want to relearn, and for January I have chosen a portion of fruit or veg with every meal to make my meal choices healthier, and cut out bowls of cereal and fish and chips!

Wolveretta · 08/01/2020 16:33

So, after a week of eating really well and not a touch of alcohol, I have lost 2.5 lbs! Grin
I'm not a fast loser at all, so I'm seeing it as a positive.

mindproject · 08/01/2020 16:38

I'm a little bit overweight, but I don't feel the need to diet. I think it will happen naturally with Brexit.

Witchonastick · 08/01/2020 16:51

I lost 2st a few years ago, then had a bad year last year and ended up putting it all back on in just a few months!

I’ve paid a subscription for the Fast 800 diet and I start on Monday.
Currently clearing out cupboards of temptation and making shopping lists for the week ahead.

I’ve a big holiday coming up this summer and I want it gone!

Wolveretta · 13/05/2020 16:21

How's everyone doing? Little update I have so far lost 1st 6lbs since January, its slow going but can def see a difference and I feel so much better too.
