Just out of interest I’ve had a horrific cold and taken night nurse - my appetite has been sky high. I can’t see increase appetite on side effects, just wondered if anyone else had experienced this?

It's probably more to do with : illness making you insulin resistant, or illness disturbing your sleep and in turn making you insulin resistant.

Interesting weaver I’m sleeping well it completely knocks me out. I only want carbs and sugar though so maybe the insulin resistance is happening ..

I think it's quite common for illness to increase insulin resistance, I definitely get very strong carb cravings if I am coming down with something

I don’t suppose the sweet popcorn, bread or chocolate cheese cake will have helped! I have been like a woman possessed yet feel rotten. I’ll and fat 😳

Ill damn autocorrect. That’s interesting though waver. I’m hoping this passes quickly. It made me think of some people feel like this all the time, to have a raging appetite that isn’t satiated. I’m used to it at certain time did the month.

It's insulin resistance then as well! I'm really insulin sensitive so I think I notice it more maybe. It's definitely that eat everything in sight feeling, no off switch, like nothing even touches the sides! I get it particularly if I'm very tired or have a night out drinking.

You obviously need fuel though to see you through your illness!

Changednamealready · 20/10/2019 19:29

Don’t worry Waver I definitely have fuel in me, frustrated though as have lost weight gradually over the past few months and I feel like I’ve ballooned. It’s great of you to share as I think we may have got the nail on the head - my furious appetite has frightened the life out of me Confused now I have a reason but need to get back on track it’s been five days now..!

Ps waver how do you know it’s insulin sensitivity ? Is it from the carb cravings and insatiable appetite? I’m liking justifying my greed 😀

There's a very old saying, 'feed a cold but starve a fever'.

I'm sure it has a basis in fact. All I want to do if I'm getting a cold is stuff my face with carbs Grin

Glad it’s not just me - thanks both I was feeling very guilty hopefully just a temporary blip.

Drama That's interesting, I always heard "Starve a cold but feed a flu"! It always disappointed me as colds far more common than flu.

When I have a cold all I want is carbs, choc, rubbish. Basic instant-hit energy. When I have flu, I can't face anything.
