Christmas Do Dress Challenge

DressDreams · 18/09/2019 09:35

Just booked our works Christmas do and have that sinking feeling again of struggling to know what to wear. I am about 4 stone overweight and am sick of having this dilemma every year of not being able to find something to wear!! Was also asked yesterday by a colleague if I was pregnant which is quite frankly the final straw. Rejoined WW online this morning and thought I would see if anyone else fancies joining me in my Christmas dress challenge. Ideally a stone off before the do in 12.5 weeks which I think is totally doable! Weighed in at 13st 12.5lbs this morning. I'm short so I look (and feel) huge at the moment.

I'd like to lose half a stone by christmas so I will keep you company. Ideally I'd like to lose it by the end of November as I always end up putting weight on in December.

TryingToDrinkMoreWater · 19/09/2019 06:55

I'd like to fit into my party dress that's too tight at the moment. I think that half a stone to 10 lbs should do it.

DressDreams · 19/09/2019 09:44

Oh lovely some company! Not off to the best start as full of cold. Day 1 on WW - just been and stocked up with fruit to try help ward off the cold. Are you following any particular plan?

Can I join? I'm just starting back at work after maternity leave with my second and whilst I'm not much heavier then I was before baby it's now all on my tummy! Would like to feel a little more healthy and glamorous by Christmas! I'm 14, 2lbs

Stickystuck · 19/09/2019 10:58

When is your xmas do? I could do with losing a stone, ours would be on the 20th Dec and that's plenty of time right? The problem is time is a thief with two small kids and a full time job and I am so hungry in the evening that I just stuff my gob without thinking.

DressDreams · 19/09/2019 13:34

My Christmas do is 14/12. Yes I feel a stone by then is totally doable. 1lb a week plus a little extra that you always lose a bit quicker at the beginning.

Our Xmas do is 7/12, and I have a delicious dress to wear, I am about a dress size and a half too big at the moment so I’m definitely it! Consciously eating less, no drinking and exercising more!

Sunseed · 19/09/2019 13:43

I have a beautiful dress that a friend gave to me a few years ago when she found it in the sales. It is perfect for a black tie do that I attend every December, but I have never quite fitted into it. Losing a stone or so would mean I could wear it this year! I have already started trying to eat less and move more this week which is starting to work but the tricky bit will be sticking at it.

MeMyselfIcecream · 19/09/2019 18:55

Low carbing is the only way for me as I don't feel hungry when I do it properly. Today is going well so far as have had lovely lasagne with avocado salad for dinner. Instead of using lasagne sheets which are high carb you use slices of edam cheese instead. So yummy.

BeBraveAndBeKind · 21/09/2019 17:30

I'll join you too. Overall I'd like to lose about 50lbs but probably 12lbs of that before Christmas. Our do is really close to Christmas this year. I'm currently 183lbs.

DownUdderer · 26/09/2019 11:21

How’s everyone going? I find low carb works for me because you can feel full for a long time. And you can have a variety of things in one day which means that so far I’m not getting bored!

DressDreams · 29/09/2019 09:34

Sorry have been really under the weather. Just been working, dealing with the kids then sleeping. Haven't stuck to any diet as such whilst I have been off it and was worried getting on the scales this morning but have lost 2lb?!?

Still going to be sticking with WW, have tried low carb and it just doesn't seem to suit me. Cant have too many carbs on the plan really anyway so I am happy with what it allows. I need to eat more fruit and veg on a whole to help shake off this nasty cold.

Will try check in more, realise I have been useless on that score! Hows everyone else getting on?

I’m down 6lbs for my first week, I’m happy with that and hoping I can have a successful second week.

I’m doing 16:8 and I’m enjoying it so far.

Well done on your loss.

DressDreams · 29/09/2019 16:57

Well done to you too that's fantastic!!

Thanks I must say I’m chuffed and hopeful for a good second week!

I tried on a dress from the back of my wardrobe and I couldn’t get all the buttons done up, so I’ll try again in a week! It’s a lovely dress too!

Goingtodothis · 03/10/2019 07:06

Hi everyone, I need to lose 3 stone. I wanted a site like this so when I feel the urge to over indulge, I'm going to get online asap, and read all your posts, and this is going to help me stay in track, I hope. Good luck to you all.

DressDreams · 03/10/2019 07:42

I must get on this thread more but doing pretty useless at this! I'm struggling at work at the minute then come home and eat my emotions. I need a sharp kick up the butt!! Only 10 weeks now until Christmas do and no chance of getting in that dress. Today is gonna be a better day Wink

Goingtodothis · 03/10/2019 07:57

I need to talk/type when I feel I'm going to over indulge, and hoping all your stories will help keep me on track

DressDreams · 03/10/2019 10:17

*Goingtodothis - let's do this! Together we can!! I have about 4 stone to lose overall. But would be pleased to get the first stone off for my Christmas do which is 10 weeks away. My overall aim is to be at goal by my birthday at the end of May. My goal is currently 10st, then I will reassess when I get there. I will be following weight watchers online. What plan are you following and have you set some goals? I am cracking open a nice new notebook to keep a journal - hoping I can avoid eating my emotions if I get them written down!

OP posts:
Goingtodothis · 03/10/2019 12:11

Great to hear from you. That's exactly how I feel... Hoping that writing down the emotions and struggles will help keep me motivated. Just knowing that there's someone else on the other end is going help so much. I weigh 12 st 3 lbs, and want to lose 1 st by Christmas. My overall goal is to lose 3 stone. I went to Slimming World a couple of years ago and lost 2 stone, but that's back on 😔, but I enjoyed the plan, just didn't enjoy the class, so going to do it myself, with the help of this chat. Yes, we can do this... We will do it! I'll post any weight loss, and am probably going to drive you all mad typing when I get the urge to over indulge, or struggling.

DownUdderer · 03/10/2019 12:50

I’m still managing 16:8, I’ll be so glad to be slimmer for Christmas.
