Cutting dairy...

I've decided to try to tackle my bad skin by cutting dairy for a couple of weeks. I've posted here because I've heard that it can also help with weight loss and the thread might be useful to someone else too!

So... if you went dairy free, what did you replace with?

I have the various alpro drinks for my cereal and coffee, and I've turned to eggs a lot more. However, I want to keep my calcium up.

I'm not dairy free but to reduce milk calories I choose almond or coconut milk. It's good I'm everything except tea.

Cutting dairy didn’t help my weight loss, but it did clear up my skin.
A lot of the Alpro milks are fortified with calcium and vitamin D, and most of their yogurts are too. Some cereals contain added calcium - Cheerios I know for certain do. A lot of breads do too. I’ve been getting Kingsmill 50/50 vitamin boost loaf www.tesco.com/groceries/en-GB/products/300833097

I made a lot of stir fries when I reduced dairy, and incorporated green leafy veg or broccoli, and sometimes tofu (both are rich in calcium).

Thanks - those are both really helpful! I've never really changed my diet before so this is a whole new world. I've noticed after a few days that my skin is responding better to my acne treatments; in the six months prior it just seemed to keep the breakouts in a moderate-level cycle!

Hi Smilei cut down on dairy a few months back - for me it took a while to get used to milk alternatives as they taste quite different - i couldn't stand soya milk now i love it and cant stand drink cows milk - maybe bear in mind your tastes might change and might take time to get used to it - maybe just me but i couldnt just do it for a couple weeks - is it all dairy or just milk?

Same as ricekrispie22 my weight hasnt changed but i only even drank skimmed - maybe if your used to full or semi
