A focused 6 week challenge

coffeeandrainbows · 09/06/2019 23:25

I have a big overseas family wedding coming up in 6 weeks and my plan to lose some weight before has sadly gone much, much slower than I had hoped. Since last October I have lost 19lbs which is great but it’s only just over 2lbs a month! I need to step it up for the last few weeks so I thought I’d create a thread to keep myself a bit more accountable.

I plan to try LCHF and maybe a few weeks of Fast800 along with lots of water. I’ve been reading the boot camp and blood sugar diet threads for some motivation today.

Exercise-wise I’m going to make sure I do at least 15 mins a day. Probably YouTube videos for Pilates or yoga as I know it makes me feel so much better and every bit helps.

I’m also going to try and get focused on skincare so I can look as good as possible (as a sleep deprived mum of three Grin) before seeing all the family, many of which I haven’t seen in about 4 years and two dc ago.

If anyone else wants to join in for a focused few weeks you are more than welcome! Otherwise I’ll keep posting just to keep myself motivated.

I will join please I go away in six weeks abd need to do something as feel an look like obese. I'm about 4 stone overweight and just can't get motivated.

coffeeandrainbows · 09/06/2019 23:57

I know exactly how you feel snop I only just dropped into the overweight BMI range but one big meal puts me back to obese so I probably have about the same to lose to get to my ultimate goal (which was the plan back in October but oh well what’s done is done).

Have you got a plan yet?

So day one update:

One hard boiled egg with salt
Black coffee

Tea with cream

Salmon with mayonnaise
Black coffee

Coffee with cream
Cucumber and cashew nuts

Water
Steak and asparagus in butter

It felt pretty easy but I need to drink more water for sure as I only managed about 600ml so make sure to increase that. I also didn’t manage to fit any exercise in other than the normal walking around for school run. I should probably add in more veg...

I will weigh in for the first time tomorrow so I don’t get discouraged by the higher number that is a result of having a very relaxed past few weeks.

Hello - I will join you please. I have a holiday in 3 weeks and then IVF nurse paperwork appointment in 6 weeks and need to get my BMI down and keep it down!

I am trying calorie deficit /calorie counting and the 16:8

coffeeandrainbows · 12/06/2019 02:39

Hi Holly those are two great end goals! I have also been trying to work towards a 16:8 fast but usually end up fasting for about 14-15. I’ve been trying the zero app to see if that motivates me more when I see the time add up. What’s your daily calorie aim?

My day two update is not great as I was out of the house for both lunch and dinner but definitely not as bad as it could have been and I did walk a lot so hopefully it won’t derail me.

Black coffee
Egg with spinach and cream cheese

Latte (I need to limit these!)

Burger and Diet Coke (no chips which I’m proud I resisted)

Coffee with cream

Brisket sandwich and beer

I had more water today too - 1.5l but still didn’t get any exercise in - goal for day three!

On the beauty side, I’ve been really sorting out my skincare for the past few months and it does look much better so I’ll keep that up. I used the Korean Italy towels in the shower today to exfoliate my body and then put moisturizer on. I have some fake tan for my legs that I need to figure out when/how to apply as I’ll be wearing lots of dresses/shorts on holiday and I want to make sure the colour looks nice. I’ve got an appointment for a haircut and colour next weekend as well, which is long overdue so I think that will make me look much fresher.

coffeeandrainbows · 13/06/2019 01:05

So day three...again not great but onwards

Black coffee
Eggs with mayo to dip

Coffee with milk
Cheese

Brownie Blush

Coffee with milk and two lollies

Mince with garlic, spinach and cauliflower

I felt very hungry yesterday which is probably due to the carbs the day before and the fact I’m due on in a day or two. Hopefully that will decrease the cravings and lose some bloating as well.

Again did ok with water (1l) and not good with exercise. Finding just 15 mins a day seems to be such a challenge for me! I know that I will feel so much better just doing it so I will really try to do some today.

Did a sheet mask and started using some tooth whitening strips.

coffeeandrainbows · 14/06/2019 03:07

Day four has gone well and I’m feeling more positive.

Black coffee

Latte

Sausage with feta and spinach

Tea with milk

Beef with veg and cheese

Only 1l of water again so will try for a bit more today. Exercise didn’t happen (again!) as I was just feeling tired but I need to be firm with myself and just start doing it.

I’m going to weigh in tomorrow and see how the first few days have gone. I don’t expect any miracles given the rocky start but we’ll see how it goes.

Hi, can I join you please? Holiday in August and none of my summer clothes fit. Thinking 800 fast diet too. Interested in zero app!

coffeeandrainbows · 14/06/2019 03:42

Welcome visitor! Please join, I’m finding the posting has really helped keep me mindful of what I’m eating (even if I make a poor choice) but would love some company! Let me know how you find the zero app. My plan is to try and get comfortable with the LCHF this week and then try a few Fast800 days added in next week for a boost.

TheOpeningActofSpring · 14/06/2019 04:09

Hi there, may i join please? Really need to lose weight but am alone with it so could use the motivation and accountability. I can’t do full LCHF due to a health condition so will just limit carbs and focus on generally healthier eating. I’ll post my food tonight.

MuddyElephant · 14/06/2019 04:31

Hi can I join too please.

Like @holly19 I am doing calorie counting and intermittent fasting. Started at the start of June as have a family wedding next weekend that I want to feel a bit more confident at. Main goal is a holiday in Sept as well as interim goal of next appt for investigating infertility at the end of July, so very similar motivations to you all!

Had a few wobbles so far Blush so hoping this will keep me accountable Grin

visitorthedog · 14/06/2019 06:37

Ah thank you, hi everyone!

I need to get my head around the LCHF piece or at least Mediterranean, my problem is a fierce sweet tooth and milky tea habit Blush

MuddyElephant · 14/06/2019 19:06

@visitorthedog How are you getting on? There are some helpful threads on here on the LCHF diet

Not great choices from me today, but within my calorie allowance
B coffee and flapjack Blush grabbed on the go at work
L chipotle chicken salad
D wrap pizza and 30g chocolate
W 1.5l plus too much diet coke Confused
Steps 18,200

Now fasting. Planning tomorrow's meals so I make better choices.

TheOpeningActofSpring · 14/06/2019 20:18

My day today:

Coffee with skim milk (I don’t eat breakfast)

3 pints of water and carrot sticks (2 carrots) over the morning. Two more coffees.

Salad made from lettuce, cucumber, pepper, 20g of cheddar, 2 slices of cold deli meat. Pint of water.

Slice of birthday cake and 2 glasses of Prosecco for a friend’s 40th.

Homemade minestrone soup (hardly any pasta).

Glass of white wine spritzer - last wine in the bottle. Won’t buy more with the next shop.

coffeeandrainbows · 15/06/2019 00:08

Welcome everyone! So glad to have some company!

I am aiming to move toward LCHF (and failing miserably this week!) but hoping to land somewhere around a med diet like visitor, I have really cut down on sugar and done much smaller portion sizes this week but if I really want is see a difference in the next 5 weeks, I’ve got to make some sacrifices now.

I weighed in and I’m down 2lbs since Monday which I’m very pleased with. I suspect it’s mostly bloat and water but still encouraging to see the change on the scales.

Day five:

Latte

Coffee with milk
Sandwich

Spaghetti with tomato sauce

Had about 600ml of water today as I didn’t bring my bottle with me.

Good luck to everyone!

coffeeandrainbows · 16/06/2019 03:29

Day six:

Tea with milk

Chicken salad

Coffee with milk

Curry with a small piece of naan
White wine

I generally find weekends easy food wise although do have a bit of wine which probably cancels out the smaller portions.

How’s everyone’s weekend going?

OP posts:
TheOpeningActofSpring · 16/06/2019 07:32

Glad you find weekends easy food wise - I try to stick to gin and tonics as lower calories than wine. Have also bought a bottle of seedlip as pretend gin.

I’ve got a fair few functions/socials at the moment and in the next few weeks and am already dreading the catered food and the alcohol. It’s to do with work though so bringing a salad in a Tupperware box won’t be a good idea 😁

Yesterday was:

Coffee with skim milk x2

35g is porridge made with milk, tea spoon of peanut putter and tea spoon of honey mixed in.

3 pints of water over morning

Omelette (2 eggs, spinach, chorizo, cheddar), small mixed salad on side.

Coffee and half a slice of homemade (refined) sugar free banana loaf

Evening function - 2 handfuls of crisps, 5 canapés (stuck to lower carbs ones, e.g. salmon pate on lettuce leave type stuff), 1 g&T, 2 Prosecco.

MuddyElephant · 21/06/2019 08:17

Morning Brew

Sorry I've not been around much, have been unwell. Tried to stick to my calories though, and just half a lb off where I wanted to be this weekend. Hoping I don't do too much damage at the wedding Confused and will be back on it next week!

How are you all getting on?

coffeeandrainbows · 23/06/2019 04:07

Hi Muddy well done one staying focused when you’ve been ill - I find that’s one of the hardest times to resist the temptation of comfort foods so to be only 1/2lbs off is great.

How are you doing Opening?

I have been plodding along slowly. I will weigh in tomorrow to see how the first 10 days have gone but I am feeling good. I have 4 weeks now until I leave for the big holiday and I know it will go by so fast so am trying to stay focused and motivated. Will update with the weigh in tomorrow.

Good luck all.

@coffeeandrainbows how did the weigh in go today.
I have lost 3lbs - just hope it continues in that direction!
