Starting MyFitnessPal - anyone else?

I've finally reached the stage where I'm ready to tackle my weight, I need to lose 2 stone really. I have a chronic illness which makes it very difficult to exercise so the food is the key.
I've signed up to MyFitnessPal and it's given me a 1500 calorie daily limit. I've also been reading up about 16:8 and intermittent fasting and i am going to try to do weekdays as 16:8 days.
I'm on day 5 and going well so far, I feel I need somewhere to be accountable though. So my starting weight is 14st 7lb, ideally I'd like to get to 12st. I'm tall so at 12st I'm a size 14, currently an 18.
I feel like I need to get back in touch with eating only when I'm hungry, it sounds so stupidly simple but I really struggle with it.

Yay, first week done and delighted that I've lost 2.5lbs despite going out for a curry last night. Grin

I’ll join you! Just had DS and weighing in at 14st 1lb, at 5”6. So need to lose 2.5st.

Was a long time SW rejoiner but don’t have time now with two little ones. Mine has given me a daily limit of 1300.

What is 16:8?

BrillyPribble · 17/05/2019 13:49

16:8 is a type of intermittent fasting done daily. You fast for 16 hours and eat during the remaining 8. In practice, I'm eating about 7-7:30pm then trying to avoid eating the next day until 11am. I have a snack then lunch and dinner as normal.
I'm starving right at the moment though, trying to avoid the temptation to have a load of toast!

How are you getting on @ListenLinda ?
I'm finding it good still. I either don't eat breakfast (not that unusual for me) or have something small and have hugely cut down on carbs and snacks. Weighing in tomorrow.

I started a thread last week. I've got 3 stone to lose. The culprit for me is fizz!

I downloaded MyFitnessPal last week and I'm on a recommended 1200 cal. I've cut my alcohol consumption in half wh

DottieLottie1 · 21/05/2019 10:51

Which wasn't too tricky as it's just breaking a habit. I've been tracking years calories and lost 4lb in the first week.

BrillyPribble · 21/05/2019 12:51

Alcohol fizz or soft drink fizz Dottie? I drink a lot of Diet Coke but am trying to swap for squash or water or a cup of tea more.
4lb loss is a great start, well done!

Prosecco! Though I do drink the diet soft drink, not worried about that as 0 calories- fruit juice is loaded with carbs and sugar so I'll avoid those and drink more water.

I've just caught a glimpse of my self (reflection in window) and I've got a longgggg way to go Sad bit hopefully instils the motivation!

BrillyPribble · 21/05/2019 18:44

I had some really nice low alcohol sparkling wine the other day, I don't know if that makes it lower calorie or not, I'll have to look. At the moment I'm just not drinking anything (I don't have much anyway).
