Low carb and mood

I’ve been doing the egg diet for the last three days, not terribly strictly eg quite a bit of wine last night but otherwise sticking to it.

I haven’t weighed myself yet but I’ve noticed such a difference to my mood and energy levels since eating LCHF! I feel so much brighter and more cheerful! And lost all interest in sugary treats. Feels so odd Confused but great! Grin

This LCHF diet cannot be good for me long term but I feel like I’ve discovered a new way of eating that really suits me. Anyone else had similar?

I don't see a reason why the low carb diet wouldn't be good for you on a long term basis? The egg fast definitely not a long term option, but a low carb diet consisting of good fats, vegetables and protein minus processed carbs and sugar isn't going to do long term damage.

My experience with strict low carb was that I "crashed" after a while and had sudden signs of low mood and depression (something I don't usually get). I think you can get a slight "high" to begin with though.

I always eat across the board now - carbs, proteins and fats and don't exclude any food group.

Oh, and not talking about cutting out "sugary" food here, which I do agree does seem to "stabilise" my mood. But where you cut out or drastically reduce even good carbs - rice, potatos, fruit, etc etc.

Yep, low-carb makes me feel much "sharper", as if some brain fog had lifted. For me it works on the long run.
Shouldn't we rather say that carbs make us sluggish?

I'm the total opposite, I've had to go very low fat if I don't want to spend the day in pain (gallbladder has already gone). It's been brilliant I've lost a stone in just over a month. I don't feel hungry possibly because I have started to associate food with pain.

I am only a week or so in but I have found myself quite even-tempered. Do get a bit headachey around 2pm. Positive side effect is waking in the morning with a much fresher mouth ... dont feel.the need to clean my teeth the minute I get out of bed.
