After decade(s) of trying all sorts: calorie counting, low GI, intermittent fasting, no sugar, low carbs, high protein, high fat, running, walking, playing sports, lifting weights, logging my food, logging my mood, cooking everything from scratch, I quit. My weight and my fitness have gone up and down and up over and over again.
I've been thinking about how to teach my kids healthy habits and realise I would never want them to behave like this. So I'm done.
I'm going to spend a year or so just setting a good example to my kids. Eating food when I'm hungry. As much unprocessed food as I can, but I'm not going to get worked up about it. I'm going to do things for fun. Play in the park, muck around at the pool and do some gardening.
If I still have a weight problem in a few years, I'll think about what other changes I need to make then. For now, I just need to get all of these unhealthy attitudes out of my head and enjoy life.
