Losing weight quicker because fat- looking for others input

Hi there. I've got a BMI of 45.8 sob and I know BMI isn't a defining factor but it's definetely not muscle!

I'm planning on getting down to a healthy weight this year. I've heard that people who are incredibly fat (like me) lose weight quicker at the start.... is this a myth? If you've experienced this, how quickly did you lose weight in the first 2-3 months? Any input welcome!

I had a BMI of 44. I faffed about and lost 1st. But then when I kicked my bum into gear, I lost 3st in 25 weeks and had the surgery I needed and I had my BMI below the 35. It was 33.9 on the day of surgery. I've gone on to lose 5.5st in total now. It took 21 months and I have been 9 months at target. I find target hard to not revert to my old habits but I also tell myself that I have made a life style change.

Look on it as a journey rather than a race. Don't be disheartened if it doesn't come off as fast as you expect. Everyone is different and no one will be the same losing weight.

I started in January 2015 at 18 stone 7 & lost 29lb in the first 4 weeks. Next 2 months were 10lb each, then 5 - 7lb per month until the November I hit 7 stone off. With Weightwatchers and DH bought me a Fitbit as motivation.

Well done on taking the 1st step and committing to change, not easy to do at all. My BMI was 42 and I'm now within a stone of the "normal" BMI band. I did have a bigger week 1 loss but I suspect that was mainly water. Almost all other weeks were 1-2lbs and it was a case of just keeping on going. You can do this!

I'd lost 13lb, almost a stone, in the first 2 weeks.

there was a couple at SW with me who had a similar BMI to you they lost a stone in first two weeks and then nearly a stone each month from then on.... I'm told it slowed down after 6 months but that first few months of loss really helped them both feel they could loose the weight and get to a much healthier (even if not perfect) BMI

Good luck!
