Losing weight - calories?

Hi,

I'm 5.5 and would like to see a decent weight loss of 2lb a week and get down from 13 stone plus to about 10.7.

Does anyone know what calorie number is best to achieve this and any tips for calorie counting?

I'm feeling absolutely fed up and unattractive and stuck in a huge rut. I've always had issues with food and gone up and down. I used to use the old weightwatchers plan and got down to about 9stone once but I was literally eating next to nothing and doing loads of exercise...I remember that I used to get headaches regularly.

I think I was happy enough and eating an okayish amount when I was 10 stone to 10.7 and a size 12 so that's what I'd like to aim for again. I keep thinking if I just do what i used to I'll get there again...I used to exercise so have rejoined the gym.

The problem is as well getting over my comfort eating crutch. It's really several sh*tty life events that have just made me turn back to food again with the result of me feeling absolutely massive. I really want to make a concerted effort now to get back to a size 12. I've recently toyed with slimming world but am so busy i just found it's not working for me...i can't always have the time to prepare the meals and I kind of think that it's not sustainable for me....i need to be able to eat the odd ready meal etc at the moment as am so busy.

Have you tried My Fitness Pal app? It will work out your daily calorie allowance a d you can track everything you eat to keep on target.

Go to google, put in tdee calculator and then minus 15-20% off that figure. That should get you a calorie number to work to. You'll likely see big losses to start with but it'll taper after awhile but keep with it. As long as you're in a calorie deficit, you'll lose weight. I've been using MyFitnessPal and put in my own tdee figure (- the 20%) and have since 1st October lost 8.8lbs over 6 weeks. You could drop to say 1200 but it isn't sustainable after awhile and can lead to binge eating. I should know, I've done it enough times 🙄 good luck!

Yep. Download my fitness pal, put your numbers in and log stuff carefully. If you don't have accurate scales, get hold of some because you can't estimate this stuff very well, at first.
