I will watch this thread with interest. I lost 22 and half pounds with weight watchers and put 4 and half on in two weeks recently and increased cadburys profits.......just lost the plot so if they work i will be interested to know!!!!!!!

SpacePuppy · 20/06/2007 08:16

exactly what do they do? laxative?

kslatts · 20/06/2007 09:10

I have looked at these in the past, but try to avoid tablets. I did take slimming tablets once that worked in the short term, but as soon as I stopped taking them I put the weight back on. I have now been at ww for 6 weeks and have lost 7lbs and now I do believe you need to find a diet that you can stick to long term. My weight loss is slower than I would like, but hopefully it will stay off.

been there done that and they didn't make a blind bit of differance. I started SW and lost about a 1/2 stone decided I wanted to speed things along so took adios my weight still came off the same so stopped taking them and again lost weight just the same. At the end of the day weight loss is all down to eating less calories than your body is burning off so it uses your fat stores, I don't think any tablets help with that except maybe the ones you can only get on perscription from the doctor

speedymama · 20/06/2007 09:37

Adios supposedly works by speeding up the rate by which you burn fat in the body. So if you follow a calorie controlled diet and take it 3 times a day for 6 weeks, you supposedly will lose one third more fat than if you had not taken it.

My personal view is if you want to speed up weight loss, just do more exercise as well as diet.

not sure about over the counter tablets, but a couple of years ago i used thermogenic fat burning tablets (not legit ones) and lost a heap of weight although they made me feel really hyper & jittery

CountessDracula · 20/06/2007 09:47

a colleague of mine took these he said they made him sweat like a fiend

Kewcumber · 20/06/2007 09:48

they're bollocks.

But if you beleive they work they might help your willpower. On the other hand, if you beleive they work I have a load of stuff I need to sell...

wishingfourgotone · 20/06/2007 09:53

tablets like that make you dehydrate as you lose fluids throuugh weeing and sweating can do damge to liver and kidneys go to gp if you want slimming tablets,

Weight Watchers is great and gives you the freedom to eat what you want with a points value. I have been on it for 6 months now and im maintaining my happy weight of 10st 10lbs!! As some say excercise helps but as a single mum i found that hard to give myself time! So i bought a bike and me and my son go out on that him on the back!!fun!! happy slimming people!!isnt it a drag though!!!!
