Eating pasta every day

Hi everyone, I'd love to hear your opinions on this.

I am Italian and I have been eating pasta once a day for most of my life. I usually cook the sauce from scratch and I go for veg-based sauces like tomato sauce.

I am now trying to shed a couple of pounds and tone up, so I started working out quite seriously and I am cutting out refined sugar.

Do you think I should also give up on having pasta every day, or is it totally fine to consume it daily, provided I make sure my diet is in general balanced and healthy?

of course it's fine to eat daily.
it's good nutritious food.
maybe add some wholemeal pasta.
but a sensible portion with plenty of veg is absolutely fine

Totally fine I would say! Carbs really are demonised unfairly I would say - the problems only come in where you eat lots of refined carb and very little fruit/veg/lean protein/healthy fats. If you are getting lots of these other things alongside the pasta then no need to worry!

The only thing to check is whether you are getting enough fibre if you eat white pasta - you get some from fruit and veg but not usually the full recommended 25-3g per day. You might want to switch to wholemeal or perhaps make sure you are having some wholegrains elsewhere in your diet?

You’ll get the slimming world fans on soon telling you you can eat unlimited pasta and it’s fine ;)

Personally I find dropping the carbs a bit does wonders (unless lifting really heavy weights) and if I ate pasta every day I’d be the size of a bus pretty soon!

I went to Sicily a couple of years ago. Was surprised there was no fast food type places there. For two weeks I had pasta every day as well as chicken, salads, fresh fruit etc... and came back with a 9lb loss.

The food there was fantastic!
